Hurst, Texas is a small town located in the panhandle of Texas. The population was 5,604 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Hurst was James W. Hargrave, who arrived in 1856 with his family from Maine. Hargrave and his wife, Mary Jane (née Clawson), founded a log cabin on what is now State Highway 183. They were soon joined by their two children and six others, all men: John Pugh (1859-1927),George Wickersham (1860-1938), Hiram Sawyer (1862-1945), Charles Appleton (1865-1941), Jesse James Hurst (1867-1950) and Harry Swayne (born 1865). All but one of these men had come west to escape the cotton gin boom that was taking hold of the eastern United States at this time. George Wickersham started out as a laborer on an old cattle drive from Wichita Falls to Fort Worth; he became manager of a sawmill there and then went into business himself as a wagonmaker. In 1881 he married Sarah Jenson; they raised five children together before she died in 1925. When her husband died suddenly near Ardmore, Oklahoma, young Jesse James Hurst took over his business and ran it until his death in 1950--a period of more than fifty years during which no other person held titles to any share in it save for him alone! All this activity notwithstanding, little did anyone know that within ten years or so--after Mr. Hargrave's death--the town would be its own center stage! As early as 1886 three schools had been established: one for white children under twelve years old named after Mrs. Hargrave; one for black schoolchildren called "Hurst High"; and one open only to white girls known as "White School." These schools were supplemented by three churches in 1890: First Baptist Church being built on present day Elm Street; Methodist Episcopal Church next door on Main Street; and Second PresbyterianChurch four blocks north on Walnut Avenue (). In 1896 when gas lighting became available for homespun illumination, much excitement resulted because some residents began using this new source of light rather than candles or oil lamps which continued to be used by many people outside their homes! No doubt these dwellings were not without their own problems since even though there were electricians around to supply lights whenever needed they could not always keep up with demand! One resident who can claim credit for bringing about widespread electricity use in Hurst is Norris Healy (); he worked intermittently as an electrician while also owning an automobile dealership.) A few years later another church was added - Trinity United Methodist Church - making it four churches within five miles of where people lived! This growth led eventually to incorporation as a municipality on December 4th 1898 (), making it one of the last towns incorporated in Texas before statehood (!). On February 1st 1902 boundaries were set according to county lines appearing on deeds filed with the secretary of state (). The remaining unincorporated areas remain partof this present day township today although pockets have developed elsewhere within it that maintain strong ties with certain parts or villages back home

Hurst, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas that was founded in 1879 by J.P. Hurst and his family. The population was 1,592 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The community located on the south side of Interstate 30 near Fort Worth was established as a cattle ranch by J.P. Hurst and his brothers John and George in 1879. The ranch became known for its fine stock, which was used to produce beef, hogs, sheep, pigs, chickens and other products for local markets around Fort Worth andDallas-Fort Worth. In 1903, J.P.'s son John P.]Hurst Jr., acquired land east of town on what is now Loop 410 Road to build what would become the first high school in TX (Denton County High School). In 1907-08 George H.]Hurst added a second floor to this school building with an auditorium seating over 100 people for performances such as vaudeville shows and circuses etc... On October 20th 1909 when TX created its first voting district boundaries there were only 8 residents living within Denton County limits so 2 farmers from Hurst managed to get their names put on ballots to elect one representative each from their individual townships! In 1946 Jerry Leakey purchased 5 acres east of town off I-30 just south of US 281 where he began developing what would become known as Black Hills Ranch National Monument Park that encompasses some 10 million acre[s] including portions ofTXDesert National Forest &Acreage west Of TX 202 The park has several visitor attractions such as buffalo hunting areas also available for RV camping or caravanning
In 1836, Captain James H. Hurst founded the town of Hurst on the east side of Red River in present day Texas. The town was originally named for General John Fenton, who had died in 1835. In 1840, the name was changed to Houston after Stephen Houston, an early settler and a friend of Captain Hurst. In 1845, Houston became the capital of Texas andFenton's old seat. The first courthouse was located in what is now downtown Houston. In 1865, Houston moved from its original location on Buffalo Bayou to become the capital again when New Orleans was destroyed by a fire. Houston has been the state capital of Texas since 1959 and also serves as its largest city with over 1 million residents.
