The Army has been in Humble, Texas since 1836. The town was founded by General Sam Houston and his army after they defeated the Mexican army at the Battle of San Jacinto. The first post office in Humble was established in 1847. In 1862, the Texas Rangers were created to fight against Indians. They started a military district called the East Texas Division which included Humble. From 1865-1868, there was also a cavalry division called the Third Cavalry Division which was headquartered in Humble. In 1898,Texas became an republic and the United States took over its government. The last U.SArmy presence in Humble ended on September 30th of that year when all combat troops left for Fort Worth following peace negotiations with Mexico City. Humble is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 97,391 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dallas County and the economic center of the area. Humble is located on Interstate 10 and State Highway 105. The name "Humble" may derive from the Choctaw word "humble," meaning "to humble oneself." One account says that settlers renamed the town after one of their own brothers who had been killed in a fight with Native Americans. Another explanation suggests that Humble was named for an early settler, Hugh Burden, because he brought cotton to the area. A third story suggests that Humble was named after local cowherd John Humble and his family's home near what is now I-10 and Loop 610 West. In 1873, James Witherspoon Baylor donated land to build a Methodist church in what would become Humble. The first building on this site became known as Baylor Chapel. In 1875, Baptist missionaries founded First Baptist Church in Houston which later became First Baptist Church in Dallas (now Trinity Cathedral). In 1907, Prohibition made alcohol illegal in Texas so many farmers decided to move their operations out of state or leave Texas altogether. Some entrepreneurs within Humble started selling liquor from their homes instead of waiting for law enforcement to come get them. This business model soon failed and by 1920 only two men were still running this operation: Ector Halliday and Harry Grimes Sr.. By 1930 there were only six residents operating businesses out of 25 total: four small stores run by three men each; one grocery store; two service stations; two barber shops; twenty-four automobiles belonging to sixty-six proprietors.;and two schools (one high school and eleven elementary schools). The Great Depression caused many jobslessness among these businesses owners but they survived thanks to customers who found other ways to buy supplies or drink while they awaited delivery of goods or services they needed without having to go through long lines at local stores

Humble is a city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 93 at the 2010 census. It lies in theMidwestern United States on the border of Arkansas and Louisiana. The name "Humble" is an original Anglo-Saxon word meaning "humble place." The first Europeans to permanent reside in what is now Humble were French traders who established a trading post there in 1794. In 1836, Houston founded the town of Huntsville on land donated by Sam Houston and other settlers. Huntsville rapidly grew into a major cotton center due to its good soil and access to water resources. By 1850, all of Hudspeth County had been organized as part of the Republic of Texas under Ulysses S. Grant's provisional government. A new city was created around this time called Humble, which became the county seat in 1857 and remained so until 1907 when it moved to Springtown (now Jasper). In 1915, during World War I, Humble joined with other towns across Texas in support of President Woodrow Wilson's Selective Service System for citizens between 21 years old and 36 years old who could not serve because they were too young or because they were Native American or African American. This action helped create what is now known as "the Humble Generation" due to their role in leading America into World War I. In 1948, after much debate among local officials over whether or not to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), Humble voted overwhelmingly (97%+) against ratification; however, many other TX cities did ratify it that same year. The ERA eventually became law after being passed by both houses of Congress on November 3rd, 1960 with then-Governor John Connally signing it into law three days later – making Humble one of just 10 US cities that ratified it! Since becoming a city limits community rather than an incorporated municipality within Hudspeth County proper upon its incorporation in 1907 - through annexation by neighboring Springtown - Humble has grown increasingly diverse both physically and culturally while remaining largely rural economically until very recently; although some development has occurred along Interstate 40 corridor including several high-end subdivisions catering primarily to nearby Fort Worth residents since moving out from rural areas closer to job opportunities outside City Limits
