The Coast Guard in Horizon City, Texas has a rich history dating back to 1897. The original Coast Guard station was built on the present day site of the now defunct Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The first salt water patrol vessel, the SS Anna B., was launched in 1899 and served until 1903. In 1915, a new Coast Guard Station was constructed at what is now known as Terminal Island. This area became an important hub for smuggling operations during World War I and other times. In 1926, the then-new Coast Guard Station on Pier 3 was relocated to its current location on Main Street. The most recent incarnation of the CoastGuard in Horizon City began operations on October 1, 1993 when they were transferred from their previous station at Terminal Island to their present location on Main Street. At that time they were responsible for all maritime patrols along the Texas coast including Harbinger Reef, Corpus Christi Bay, Refugio Beach and many more areas. Today there are over 150 members of the Coast Guard stationed in Horizon City with jurisdiction over a wide range of activities including search and rescue; marine security; law enforcement; environmental protection; and public education. Horizon City is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. Horizon City is on the edge of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and it borders Frisco to the east and Arlington to the west. The name "Horizon City" was given to it by Colonel George H. Lowry in 1881 when he settled a ranch there with his family. The city's first store was opened in 1887 by Wm. Josten & Son on Elm Street near what is now South Elm Street. Of course, this early store had no idea about what would become known as downtown Fort Worth – today's Rexall Place! In 1907, Ladd-Peebles built a grove of oak trees on land that extends from present-day Elm Street south to West Elm Street – naming their new development "Oak Lawn." This Groves of Oaks neighborhood still remains one of Horizon City's most distinguishing features today! In 1925, Horizon City became its own municipality under an act passed by the Texas Legislature; however, annexation into Arlington followed soon thereafter due to growth within Arlington Township (which also includes much of Fort Worth). Today, most people refer to both jurisdictions as simply "Fort Worth". In 1928, President Herbert Hoover commissioned surveyors for a planned freeway connecting Dallas and Houston; however construction never commenced because of World War II efforts which stripped away valuable farmland in Tarrant County for military purposes. After the war ended in 1945, many farmers returned to their land and began rebuilding farms as Horizon City grew quickly again (it reached its peak population size of over 100 thousand residents in 1960). However some developers did continueHQFtWorth reconstruction - with businesses such as Albertsons coming online during this time (the current Rexall Place complex began operations in 1961). Many other businesses were added during this period including Barnes & Noble which moved into its current location across from TCU Stadium in 1978 - becoming one ofFort Worth's first major employers outside government/commercial areas! At various points throughout these years there have been attempts made at redevelopment or rezoning beyond just single uses - but all have failed due largely to resistance from more established business owners who perceive any change as not following their model/ pattern which they believe makes them wealthier than others within town limits! As recently as last year Mayor Sherman announced plans for redevelopment that are expected to result in upzoning adjacent properties along IH20 making them available for mixed-use development; however opposition has already begun so far with several large businesses threatening legal action if changes are made! What we see here is a pattern: those who can afford it make sure that they do - while those who cannot usually find ways to stay put even though their property may not be well endowed with economic opportunities!!!

Horizon City is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 12,362 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tarrant County. Horizon City was founded in 1881 as a town on the west side of Fort Worth Railroad and began to grow rapidly after its incorporation into Tarrant County in 1907. The city has experienced many changes over its history including being annexed by Dallas in 1930, becoming an industrial center following the arrival of Boeing and Texaco representatives during World War II, experiencing a brief period of growth during the late 1970s and early 1980s due to oil production associated with the Eagle Ford shale formation, and then experiencing significant decline beginning in the 1990s as a result of economic stagnation and declining real estate values. The original name for Horizon City was "Fort Worth". In 1907 it became part of Tarrant County when it was organized from portions of Dallas. The population grew rapidly after incorporation because railroads brought people here from outlying areas such as Garland (now Flower Mound) and Richardson (now Richland Hills). Many businesses were established within a short time after incorporation including grain elevator operators, meat packers, clothing manufacturers, auto dealerships and more. Development continued through World War II with increased industrial activity around nearby bombers bomber base(s), manufacturing plants for aviation gasoline and diesel fuel products along with other military-related businesses such as shipyards making rifles for America's war effort. After World War II ended there was less industrial development taking place but increasing suburbanization led to increased traffic congestion on I-35W which caused problems for both drivers and planners who wanted to keep HorizonCity's downtown core dense while still accommodating scheduled events like concerts or carnivals that required large crowds entering two separate blocks simultaneously creating conditions conducive to crime or chaos; however this did not happen until later years when Mayor Harry Burchman started efforts to increase funding for infrastructure projects which led to new business creation along I-35W resulting in decreased traffic congestion overall while maintaining downtown character Despite these experienceshorizoncity prospered through various cycles throughout its history

The city was named for Captain James Fenton, who explored the area in 1851. In 1870, the city had a population of 794 people and it became an important railroad center. The city experienced explosive growth during World War II and its population rose to over 10,000 by 1945. After the war, Horizon City faced rapid gentrification and decline in economic activity. However, it has since regained some of its former glory as a commercial and residential center.
