Highland, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Highland is located in San Antonio County and its zip code is 78201. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town began as a small rancho containing two adobe buildings on Mount Pleasant Road and 12 other scattered homes around what was then an open prairie that stretched to the horizon on all sides but one. Today, only a few of those original homes remain standing, while many others have been replaced by more recent structures or are being used for storage or other purposes. In 1907, John Denton founded Denton Oil and Refining Company which soon becameBased in Highland he started to build up some of his land holdings into what would become today's Highland Ranch including present day Mount Pleasant Rd., Academy Rd., Colorado Ave., Seymour Dr., Clear Creek Rd., Timberline Ln./Valley View Dr., etc.. In 1911 he sold most of his holdings to William Silliman who also started Silliman Electric Light Company which still operates out of their current building on Academy Rd (now home to Highland High School). In 1916, when World War I broke out, Mr Silliman donated his personal collection of farm equipment and tools to be used during the war effort by American Red Cross troops stationed in nearby Hearst Field so that they could help with food distribution within general area munitions dumps throughout central Texas; this donation remains one of the largest such donations ever made in Lone Star State history. On July 16th 1920 Joe Mixon married Rhoda Rowe from neighboring Milam County at Our Lady Of The Lake Catholic Church off Clear Creek Road northeast of town limits- thus starting what would become known as Mixon-Rowe Marriage Syndrome where successive families from adjacent counties - variously called "Mixon", "Foley", "Roberts" - move into any given community getting pregnant by someone from another family member just before their first child graduates from high school! Consequently, early residents were often forced to leave their homes due to rising prices or other factors associated with rapid social change during these years leading up to World War II when much larger towns sprung up all around rural areas across Central Texas! Nowadays, most people living in Highland don't remember how it once was; instead they focus on its rich history dating back over 100 years and its role as a center for oil production during prohibition days along with its wide variety of cultural attractions like art galleries and music festivals that bring people from all over Central TX each year!

In 1962, following enactment of National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1963 (NDAA), Congress passed an act establishing a new organization-the Aeronautics Administration-to provide planning and management support for both commercial and defense airspace programs within DOD authorizations included therein including Title 10 U.S Code section 7001 through 7009 specifically authorizing purchases by ARPA-1 of Boeing 747SRs equipped with 432 dual fuel tanks for transport into or out of Vandenberg AFB outside Santa Barbara County California on behalf of LGM–15E/F global Project Mercury member nations; however no such order had been placed at that time On October 20th, 1962 United States Government contracted Boeing Co., Seattle WA with contract number 11667A – Aircraft Delivery Order No: 1 For A Lockheed C-130 Hercules Aircraft Certificate Of Origin EO 12923/10 were received from Aeronautical Division Headquarters USAAF at Eglin AFB Fla This aircraft delivery order marked Aviation Industry's first international purchase from Boeing under this program which truly began what would become known as "Air Mobility Express" – future business opportunities would develop over many years leading up to today’s world wide commercial airline industry

The name of the town comes from Mount Union to the north which is also its location on the high ground that forms part of the eastern border of Medina County. Highland is known for its Scotch-Irish culture and their annual event called "The Ulster Festival".
When the first Europeans arrived in what is now Highland, Texas in 1740, they were greeted by Native Americans who had lived here for centuries. The area that would become Highland was first inhabited by the Wichita people. In 1829, the Republic of Mexico went through a process called cession which gave land to new nations as part of their Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This land included what is now Highland and parts of Comanche and Kiowa counties. The town of Highlands was founded in 1852 by John Schieffer, a German immigrant who came to the area as a lumberjack. He set up a sawmill on the banks of the Colorado River and began trading with Indians and settlers alike. By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in Highlands. In 1875, when Texas became an independent country, it added Highland to its territory. In 1907, when Highway 60 was built through this area, Highlands became one of its first communities.
