After war ended, Henderson continued serving as an airbase until it closed its doors in 1959. However, since then, locals have kept up their tradition of giving back to the navy by hosting events such as bingo nights and charity golf tournaments. Today, there are several branches of the navy stationed within or near Henderson: The USS Constitution Museum Foundation provides educational opportunities for children age 5-17; USS Enterprise Museum allows visitorship tours of vintage warships from World War II through today; The Navy Historical Center offers exhibits about naval history from both local veterans and national museums; and The Naval Aviation Museum features aircraft from both World War I through Operation Desert Storm. These organizations help perpetuate maritime gift traditions throughout our community while also educating people about our nation's military heritage.

Henderson, TX is a small town located in the Midwestern United States. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. Henderson is part of the Wichita County metropolitan area and is bordered to the north by Wichita Falls, TX and to the south by Midland, TX. The first references to Henderson were from 1830 when it was called "New Mexico". The name may have come from an Indian word meaning "place where deer abound." In 1872, Home & Overstreet published an article about a mineral spring in Henderson which they said yielded valuable minerals such as lead, silver and gold. By 1880, Henderson had a post office and two stores. In 1907, the US Post Office moved to Henderson from Topeka, KS. A new courthouse was built in 1909 with money donated by Alfred Hennepin who also founded Minneapolis-St Paul Packers Co., one of the largest meat packing companies in America at that time. In 1916, agricultural land was donated by James Fenton which became known as Fenton Rancho de la Union. In 1922–1923 (the only two years without any major changes), Henderson experienced its worst drought on record; water levels dropped so low that crops died and roads were impassable for months. However, this did not stop people from coming to live or work in Henderson during these difficult times; many businesses survived thanks to donations from individuals or organizations like The American Red Cross and First National Bank of Wichita Falls.
Navy Deployed Gift History began in 1954 when the United States Navy raised money to buy a gift for an upcoming naval birthday. The first gift was a phonograph player. Gifts followed, including radios, cameras and other equipment. By the late 1960s, the navy had started to send gifts as part of its goodwill program around the world. In 1971, the navy decided to start sending gifts as part of its Christmas campaign. This campaign became known as "The Nativity". As part of this campaign, sailors prepared artificial trees with related items such as nativity scenes and Bethlehem figures. In 1976, a new type of gift was added - cellular phones! The navy continued to send gifts through its Christmas campaign until it disbanded in 1997. However, The Nativity still features prominently on Naval Ship Memorial websites across the United States today!

Henderson, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. It was founded in 1879 by James Henderson and his wife, Anna. The Henderson family ranch encompassed over two square miles of land. The original homesteaders were the Haselsons and they soon began to build a log cabin on theranch’s main lot. In 1886, the Hendersons built their first school which they named after their father-in-law, John Wesson Henderson. The school district was organized in 1907 and the Henderson School District became an independent entity within the Hudspeth County School District in 1951. As of 2016, there are only three surviving buildings from when Henderson was founded- one is still used as a residence and two are used as businesses: One is currently operated as a convenience store and the other is now operated as a hotel/motel. The early years of Henderson were very difficult due to lack of resources and competition from other towns in Hudspeth County. However, over time it has become an important community with many successful businesses and residents. The town has experienced many changesover its history including annexation by Austin in 1968 and becoming part of the new Austin metropolitan area in 1995. Today, Henderson continues to thrive thanks to its rich culture which includes unique attractions such as its own performing arts festival each year (the Hemphill Arts Festival) and its vibrant nightlife scene which features local breweries (both large scale operations like Anheuser Busch Brewery or smaller independents) as well as numerous restaurants and bars popular among locals and visitors alike.
Henderson is located in the Midwestern United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 14,638. Henderson is one of three incorporated towns in Coryell County and is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. It is also home to Lamar University, a private university with undergraduate and graduate programs in law, business, engineering, health sciences, and other disciplines.
