Henderson who first arrived in America in 1881 from Ireland on his way back home from studying law at Trinity College Dublin while still a student. He partnered up with his brother-in-law C.,J., and started farming land that they eventually divided into two parcels totaling 4 square miles (10 km²). The original name for the town was simply "Henderson" which locals used until 1907 when it changed to "Henderson Post Office." The post office became an important stop on the San Antonio Trail because many settlers travel through this area looking for work or passage westward during their journey across North America during those early years when railroads were not yet common nor did highways exist yet! In 1916, Following World War I which resulted in over 100 American soldiers being relocated from Henderson due to lack of opportunities elsewhere in Texas; the community began its slow recovery with just 100 residents living there by 1930 however things have started moving again recently with a recent population increase reaching 150 people as of 2017!
