Haltom City is a small city located in the Midland region of Texas. The city was founded by Haltom Creek settlers in the 1840s, and it grew rapidly during the late 19th century and into the 20th century. The city is today a thriving community with a rich history that can be found throughout its neighborhoods and businesses. The first settlement in Haltom City was established in 1839 by George Waddell and his brother James Waddell. The brothers were among the first to settle in what is now Haltom City, after they discovered large deposits of coal near their home on Haltom Creek. By 1840, the two brothers had erected a cabin on land that would later become downtown Haltom City. In 1841, John Fenton purchased land adjacent to where today's Fourth Street meets Interstate 35 (I-35). This purchase helped spur development in central Haltom City as businesses began to new up and establish themselves around Fenton's store. By 1845, enough people had settled around Fenton's store to warrant building their own courthouse - which was built on State Highway 5 soon thereafter. In 1847, Haltom City saw its first election when residents voted for a town meeting clerk. During World War II, many local soldiers served in the military at various locations including Camp Bowie (later Fort Worth) and Roswell Army Air Field (now Roswell Air Force Base). One of these soldiers, Pvt., Forrest "Crazy Legs" Baker, is credited with saving life at Roswell Army Airfield when he flew his airfield-based fighter plane into danger just before impact on July 2, 1947. After World War II ended, many factory jobs left town during the early 1950s as manufacturing became more difficult to find outside of Detroit or Cleveland due to technological advances such as television sets and radios being produced domestically instead of abroad like earlier years. However, some businesses did remain active until recently including First National Bank & Trust Company which continues operations today from downtown; A&W restaurant; Western Union Telegraph Company; Bob Hope Airport hangar #2; Armstrong Whitworth Products plant No 1; Pecos County Courthouse Annex; and much more! Throughout most of its history – until about 1970 – downtown Haltom City experienced very high levels of commercial activity due largely to its location within easy walking distance of major thoroughfares I-35/5/6/8 West Side Road/Ulysses S Grant Boulevard etc.). Many stores opened up along 4th Street between Houston Street & Elm Avenue making it one of America’s busiest shopping streets during this time period - especially given that there were few other places similar situated within reach! Today much less traffic exists along this stretch making it an ideal spot for pedestrians or bicyclists who enjoy excellent views over Downtown Dallas or Ft Worth!

He named the small community after General James Haltom, a United States Army general who had fought in the Mexican War. The town was founded on July 10, 1837 by Capt. Wm. C. Brown and his family. It soon became a center for cattle and sheep production, and a railroads were built to transported goods to and from Fort Worth and Dallas. The town's prosperity declined during the 20th century due to Beaver County's decline in population, economic stagnation, and environmental degradation. However, it has since experienced resurgence as a tourist destination thanks to its history, scenery, attractions, and unique architecture.
