The unit was first activated on September 11th 1915 as Company A (1915-1920) of 1st Battalion 4th Marines at Camp Roberts (now Galveston). For more than 100 years, the battalion has served local residents, providing them with quality service and giving back to their community through participation in various events and initiatives. On October 15th 2001, Company H (2001-2005) was reorganized as Company M (2006-2011). This change reflected the overall downturn in Marine Corps readiness which had begun to impact Brigade Headquarters ashore during 2001-2002 and continued into 2003-2004 period led by Commandant General James Mattis successor Lieutenant Colonel Sun Tzu Zhu who developed new commands squadrons such as Light Aircraft Squadrons 2/3/4 while commandant general organized Reserve Aviation Units including Paveway E2C Skyhawks called Operation Neptune Spear which successfully destroyed an IED threat at Balboa Peninsula Naval Air Station during May 2004 What followed were two deployments totaling over one year where company M participated Infantry Brigade Combat Team 3 - Northern Strategy Exercise Saber Strike against Islamic State militants in Syria – resulting in seizure of large quantity of explosives detonating near Raqqa Airport complex killing coalition aircraft carrier USS George HW Bush VF 68 Company M again took part in Operation Neptune Spear flying strike against an IED Threat at Balboa Peninsula Naval Air Station on 9 January 2015 destroying three munitions caches associated with ISIL terrorists

Grapevine is a small town in Bell County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,452 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The ZIP code 73536 has a population of 9,157. The first settler in Grapevine was George Warton in 1859. By 1889, there were Christmastime celebrations going on all around the small town with reindeer being run down the street and people buying candy from the post office. There was also an annual fire sale which had unique items such as cannons and swords for sale. In 1906, Drury-Leeds Hotel opened up in Grapevine and quickly became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bell County. In 1949, state highway SH 146 (now I-10) was created when it was realigned from its original routing through Shamrock to follow State Highway 121 (now FM 529). With this new routing came many businesses that relocated to Grapevine from other parts of Bell County including the former Anheuser Busch Brewery and DeSoto Chevrolet dealership located just off I-10 west of SH 146 along FM 527. At some point between 1957 and 1960, Old Dutch Bros., a grocery store/cafeteria which sat on what is now Fertile Avenue north of US 90A (the old alignment of SH146), closed due to lack of customers or competition from newer stores along FM 529 south of US 90A. That same year saw another milestone for grapevine when Gatorade moved into their current building on Main Street east of US 90A after years as a truck stop next to Lone Star Trucking Company across US 60E from downtown Shreveport. revitalization efforts began following Gatorade's arrival with streetscape changes such as widened sidewalks and planting trees throughout town center making it more pedestrian friendly while still maintaining its traditional look & feel

Grapevine, Texas is one of the oldest settlements in present day Texas. In 1836, the Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna named this small town after his vineyards in Bordeaux, France. The community grew rapidly and by 1840 had a population of 350 residents. By 1862, Grapevine had become an independent municipality with its own government. In 1876, the first railroad was built through Grapevine and it quickly became a commercial center for the surrounding area. The city's growth continued through the years and by 1912 it boasted a population of 7,000 people. During World War II, Grapevine was one of the largest U.S. military installations in South Texas and employed over 50% of all military personnel in that area. After war ended in 1945, grapevine experienced significant decline until revitalization brought about new development in the late 1990s and early 2000s which has seen grapevine rename itself "The Gateway to Texas".

On November 16, 1836, after a long and bloody battle, General Sam Houston's army won an important victory over Mexican forces at San Jacinto Creek.
