The history of Georgetown dates back to 1881 when Methodist missionaries arrived in Hudspeth County from Wichita Falls,TX looking for new land to cultivate. They started their farmstead on what is now east side of Main Street near today’s Walter Reed Army Medical Center (now Fort Hood Regional Airport). In 1907 when Georgetown became a city under the provisions of Chapter 517 of the Consolidated Laws Of Texas (the same law that created Wichita Falls), it had an overall population of just over 100 people living on 7 blocks grid-wise with only one street named after each resident: High Street/Allison Place being reserved for City Hall Annexe residents only! In 1912 Mayor John Aushaub Rockwall dedicated Chippewa Creek Boulevard which ran through downtown Georgetown then curved around Waco Dam before terminating at Elmendorf Road NE near present day IH 35E) becoming one of many streetscape enhancements done during this time period throughout Dallas/Fort Worth area including much needed FW connected arterial roadway infrastructure following World War I Veterans return home from overseas service

Georgetown, Texas is a town in San Antonio County, Texas. The population was 8,912 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in San Antonio County, and one of its most populous towns. Georgetown was founded by Germans in 1853. The name comes from the German word "Gerechtigkeit", meaning justice or fairness. In 1865, when Confederate General Sam Houston fought his last battle near Georgetown, he ordered his men to stop looting and burning villages east of San Antonio. This began what is known as the “ Georgetown Massacre” which left more than 40 dead including many women and children. The town grew rapidly during the early 20th century due to its strategic location on the Red River Valley between two major metropolitan areas-San Antonio and Austin-and its proximity to water supplies for agriculture and industry. By 1920, Georgetown had over 1,000 residents and a hospital that treated patients from both cities. In 1927, local businessman Leland Stanford built an elaborate dam across Red River that became known as Cardinal Dam after Cardinal Hill in Austin where he lived. The dam created a reservoir that allowed for growth of nearby rural acreage and made possible much needed water supply for industries like farming and manufacturing throughout East Texas during World War II. In 1954, President Dwight D Eisenhower dedicated Toombs Lake at cardinal Dam as part of his Rural Electrification Plan which aimed to provide electricity to farmlands around the country through direct electrification rather than waiting for power companies to build transmission lines connecting farms directly to urban grids
The history of Georgetown, Texas begins with the arrival of pioneers in the late 1800s. The area that today is known as Georgetown was first inhabited by the Caddo and Kiowa Sioux. The first European to settle in what is now Georgetown was William Hudgins, a British settler who arrived in 1827. Hudgins founded a small town on the bank of the Brazos River, which he named Hudginsburg. In 1846, after Mexican forces sacked and burned Washington County, Texas during the Mexican-American War, General Sam Houston ordered all Texans to move their families to Galveston County. With only about 100 settlers living in Georgetown at the time, many of whom were farmers and traders, Houston ordered John Hogg to build a ferry across the Brazos River so that goods could be transported between Galveston andHouston. Hogg completed his Ferry Bridge project in 1848 and started shipping goods across the river intoHouston from Georgetown. In 1860, Confederate sympathizers attacked Houston's army at Milam Creek near present day Mansfield while they were besieging Fort Bend County; although most Confederate soldiers deserted or surrendered soon afterward (some went on to fight for Northern armies such as Union forces), some Confederate officers fought manning Fort Bend's guns until they were captured by Union troops under General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9th 1861. This event marked the beginning of Reconstruction in America following the American Civil War; since few white Texans remained loyal to Confederate States of America (CSA), Reconstruction aimed to ensure civil rights for black Americans through programs like education and voting rights In 1865, when Congress passed Joint Resolution No. 9 creating an independent Republic of Texas within US borders after Abraham Lincoln signed it into law at Gettysburg Address, both Georgetown and Mansfield became part of Harris County within US borders - one more sign that Reconstruction had ended five years earlier than planned In 1871-72 Presbyterian minister trustees built a school on land donated by James Polk II upon which current Trinity University was built By 1893 much of what is now downtownGeorgetown had been developed as warehouses used for storage by local businesses before being abandoned for development . In 1895 developer Gillett & Lyon erected what is still one of downtown's most prominent buildings - First National Bank Building On November 15th 1898 Wm Aiken purchased 2 acres along Main Street from Jno Laughlin for $2/acre giving him total control over nearly 2/3rds of all square footage within downtown
