Georgetown is a small town in Texas, located just outside of Austin. The population was 8,492 at the 2010 census. Georgetown is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The town was founded by James Robertson in 1845 as a stop on the Santa Fe Trail. In 1865, Georgetown became home to Baylor University and came under the jurisdiction of the new Austin Board of Education. In 1928, Georgetown was merged with Round Rock to form the current city of Austin. Today, Georgetown is known for its shopping and dining opportunities as well as its rich history and culture. The downtown district is features several important historical buildings such as First Congregational Church and Baylor University Library. The town also has a variety of cultural events each year including Folk Festivals and Art Fairs.

In 1956, the USAF gifted two T-38 Talon jet trainers to the Royal Jordanian Air Force and in 1957, they gifted four F-86 Sabre jets to the EgyptianAir Force. In 1960, they gifted two C-130 Hercules transport planes to Saudi Arabia and in 1962, they gifted one E-3 Sentry AWACS plane to Peru.
