He was instrumental in helping make Frisco one of the most popular shooting destinations in the country. In 1907, Johnnie Ray founded Ray Guns & Ammo on East Lamar Street in downtown Frisco. This business became one of the most successfulGun stores of its time due to its wide selection of firearms, quality customer service and competitive prices for ammo. Ray also built up a large collection of firearms which he donated to various museums around town. His legacy continues to be influential today with over 200 firearm sales reported at his shop alone each month! In 1934, Clyde Davenport opened his own Gun store on Elm Avenue in northeast Frisco (later renamed Davenport Firearms). This shop quickly became known as one of the city's topgun retailers with a wide variety of firearms available at affordable prices. In addition to selling guns directly to customers, Davenport also ran an extensive online store that offered classic handguns as well as new models being developed at that time! His store remain one of our city's oldest and most significant landmarks today!
