After Johnston's death, Constitution served as flagship of Rear Admiral John Farragut's Expeditionary Force that captured Pensacola on April 14, 1898. This event is often cited as beginning World War I in Europe. The Constitution recommissioned on October 15, 1906 at Philadelphia and deployed during World War I with distinction including being one of only two ships not sunk by enemy action while afloat (the other being HMS Cossack). On September 20, 1919 she sailed from New York City for Halifax where she participated in disembarking American troops after Armistice Day. She transited back through New York City before sailing via Boston to Bermuda where she decommissioned on October 2, 1919 and entered into storage pending her sale to a new owner on May 1, 1951. Forney is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in Tarrant County after Fort Worth. The name "Forney" comes from the Coahuila-Texas term for "the Forks of the Brazos River". The first post office in Forney was established on July 1, 1881. The current post office building was built in 1935 and home to the City of Forney Historical Museum since 1984. In 1907, James A. Dimmick founded Dimmick Electric Supply Company which soon became one of the largest electric companies in Texas and across America. In 1926, he donated land to build a new high school and it opened its doors on December 3, 1927 as Forney High School. In 1939, James A. Dimmick died suddenly and his company passed into receivership but it reopened two years later with new management under Captain Robert Lunsford who served until 1951 when it merged with Dallas Edison Company to form Texaco Corporation . Texaco Corporation was acquired by Gulf Oil Corporation in 1973 which led to another period of restructuring prior to becoming an ExxonMobil company finaly upon their acquisition of Mobil Oil . As part of their agreement with ExxonMobil, Gulf Oil Corporation transferred its operations from Houston Street eastward along I-10 (now Main Street) through downtown Forney before terminating at Shell Road just north of I-10 exit #303 leading southeast into Arlington County

Forney is a town in Waller County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,874 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo–Nacogdoches Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Forney was W. H. Forney who arrived in 1876 from Illinois and named his place after himself and his father-in-law, John Forney. By 1886 there were only 30 settlers living in the area now including Forney. However by 1912 there were 1,000 people living here with two churches and a school serving them all. A post office was established here on October 12, 1892 with J B Harwood as the first postmaster. In 1907 an oil well started production in what is now Forney and began to bring money into the community like no other until that time. This wells brought so much business that it led to more people moving here and soon enough there were more than 1000 residents here including 300 businesses which made this small town one of the most prosperous in Waller County at that time! In 1915 an IMAX movie theater opened up which quickly became one of Amarillo’s top tourist attractions due to its excellent movie screenings! In 1951 forMemorial Day a parade took place through downtown where many veterans from World War II gathered together for a picnic lunch before returning home!! Many local businesses followed suit such as The Diner (now called Red Roof Inn), The Laundromat & Dry Cleaners, Mrs Perkins Bakery (now known as 7x7 Pizza) and many others which helped make this day very special for everyone involved! Today Forney has continued to grow but unlike some other small towns throughout America it has done so while remaining very humble! Large employers such as Walmart have chosen not to locate within city limits instead choosing suburban locations but this doesn’t mean that their employees don’t enjoy good times together every week during Memorial Day weekend!!!

Forney emerged as a major player in the Texas oil industry during the 1930s, becoming one of the largest companies in the state.
