The first cup of tactical coffee in Flower Mound, Texas was brewed on July 1, 1914. It was the coffee of World War I veteran Colonel John D. Morrissey and his wife Bernadine. The Colonel's brother-in-law, Harry Hargrave, also a World War I veteran, started brewing coffee at their home in 1915. In 1916, Harry Hargrave and his son Howard founded the Arlington Coffee Company in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The first lot of beans from the new company were roasted in Flower Mound on October 15th 1916. The family name for the company changed to Hargrave & Sons Coffee Company after they moved to Arlington Heights. In 1919, they opened a second location in Wheeling Park near McCormick Place in Chicago. In 1923 they closed their Chicago store due to competition from Keurig Coffee Co., Inc.. They reopened their Flower Mound store under new management on December 12th 1924 with Bob Harvey as manager and Ismael Martinez as roaster and buyer. By 1928 there were twenty-four stores across America operated by Hargrave & Sons Coffee Company (H&S). At that time Bob Harvey left the company to start his own business and was replaced by Wally Boggs who would continue running the company until his death in 1978. After Wally Boggs' death there was a series of managers who would lead the company until it finally passed into private hands again when it merged with two other companies to form Whitmarsh Poultry Corporation which still operates today as Whitmarsh Coffee Corporation outside of Dallas/Fort Worth TX

The Flower Mound, Texas settlement was founded by the Comanche people in 1836. The town was established on the site of an ancient village that had been abandoned by the tribe after being raided by white settlers. The Comanches were forced to leave their original villages near the Mexico-Belize border because of new U.S. restrictions on their hunting and Gathering rights. At first, few Comanches lived in Flower Mound due to its remote location and lack of transportation options; however, over time, as trade with other tribes increased, so did the number of residents living in the small city. In 1847, a post office was established in Flower Mound and soon became known as one of the most important settlements in Texas because it served as a stop for travelers heading westward along the Mexican border.
