The Flower Mound Naval Base was established in 1915 as the former Flour Mill at Flower Mound, Texas. It served as a naval base for the Republic of Texas and later for the United States Navy. The base closed in 1971 and is now home to the Texas Museum of History. In 1914, Admiral John J. Pershing ordered that all warships from Corpus Christi be delivered to Flower Mound Naval Base. This included USS Enterprise (CV-6) and USS Lexington (CV-3). The ships were decommissioned and stored at the base until they were needed again during World War II. USS Enterprise was recommissioned on 9 October 1945 and served with distinction during World War II before being decommissioned on 2 September 1946. She was transferred to the navy’s Maritime Administration on 20 October 1946 and redesignated HMAS Canberra (AO 137/46). She completed her service with the navy in 1948 before being sold to mercantile interests in Australia under her original name, HMAS Perth (AO 136/48). She arrived in Australia on 21 May 1951, serving there until she was scrapped in 1961. USS Lexington also served during World War II but did not see action as she had been decommissioned earlier that year. She was transferred to US Navy Maritime Administration custody on 20 October 1946 after completing her service with US Fleet Forces Europe before being reclassified HMCS Montero (AO 451/47). On 5 November 1947, she collided with USS Constitution off of Okinawa while Serving as part of Task Force 58 which fought Inland Sea campaign against Japan following their surrender; both ships were damaged but survived thanks to their aircrew who managed to fly them back into Japanese waters without loss of life!

Navy gift history in Flower Mound, Texas goes back to the USS Constitution (1802-1806) and its crew. The USS Constitution was a ship designed by Captain James K. Polk of the United States Navy. She was the first ship to be built under his guidance and he is considered the Father of American Naval Warfare. The Constitution served in various engagements during the War of 1812, including being present at the Battle of Lake Erie and Battle of Niagara Falls. After her service in that conflict she underwent repairs and redesign which led to her becoming known as USS Adams (1807-1809). In 1815 she became part of Commodore James K. Polk's squadron that sailed for Mexico City on an unsuccessful attempt to negotiate peace with Spain. The following year she made another voyage, this time helping blockade Havana Harbor during the Spanish-American War (1898-1901). On this trip she also visited Puerto Rico and Cuba before returning to Washington D.C., via Cape Horn, in May 1901. She finally decommissioned at Philadelphia on 15 October 1904 and was sold for scrap on 12 October 1905
Flower Mound is a small town in the Texas Hill Country, located about 20 miles west of Austin. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Williamson County, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town began as a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route in 1839 and soon became an important agricultural center due to its rich soil and plentiful water resources. In 1907, Flower Mound was founded as Garden City by W.B. Yeoman, who named it for his mother's flower garden in England. The name change came about because at that time TX didn't have a state name (it was admitted into the US on November 6, 1845). During World War II, Flower Mound served as a base of operations for General George Custer's 5th Cavalry Regiment during their campaign against Japanese forces in Burma. After the war ended, many of the servicemen from Flower Mound returned home and helped build up the community into what it is today. Today, Flower Mound is considered one of the most beautiful small towns in America due to its rolling hills and friendly populace. There are numerous businesses and restaurants within walking distance of each other; however, much of downtown remains unaltered from when it first opened up during prohibition days more than 50 years ago.

Navy gift history goes back to 1853 when the U.S. Navy submitted a design for a new type of torpedo boat, the Torpedo Boat, hull number L2. The Torpedo Boat was designed as a fast and efficient attack boat that could sink enemy warships with torpedoes from close range. The first torpedo boats were built in 1905 and were christened USS Connecticut (LST-6) and USS Arizona (LST-10). By 1912, the navy had ordered an additional 240 torpedo boats, including 30 submarines. In 1915, the US Congress added electric propulsion to torpedoes making them less vulnerable to mine opposition and they became known as Electric Boat Bombers.
The Flower Mound community was founded in 1881 by a group of farmers who were looking to purchase land near the Wichita River. The original name for the town was Garland, but it was changed to Flower Mound due to the abundance of wildflowers in that area. The population of Flower Mound grew slowly over the years, until it reached its peak during World War II when it had around 1,200 residents. However, since then the town has slowly declined and today there are just 100 residents living in Flower Mound. The history of Flower Mound is both interesting and sad. It is an important part of Texas history because it was one of the first communities to be established on what is now known as the Lone Star State. In addition, Flowers mound was also home to a number of famous people such as General Sam Houston and James Ketchum. Unfortunately, these days most of the community’s infrastructure has been destroyed by fire or other accidents. Nevertheless, flowers still thrive in memory thanks to their contributions to American culture and history.
