The Flower Mound Army garrison was founded on December 12, 1873, when the Texas Rangers moved into the town to take up their new post. The unit became known as the First Battalion of the Flower Mound Volunteer Cavalry Regiment. The regiment served in both World Wars and was disbanded in 1940. In 1951, the state of Texas created a military base at Flower Mound and assigned it to the 1st Cavalry Division. The unit became known as the 1st Cavalry Regiment (Majestic Horse) and served until 1971. In that year, it was redesignated as Battery A of Artillery District No. 2 (Flower Mound). From 1971-1991, it served with Artillery Brigade #1 (Fort Worth). In 1991, Battery A transferred to Fort Hood, TX and is currently inactive there. Today, there are still active units within the Flower Mound Army Garrison including: Armor Detachment 2/10th Armored Infantry Regiment; Signal Company C; Helicopter Squadron 11; Motorcycle Squadron 5; Rifle Platoon 3/2nd Battalion Texas Rangers

The Flower Mound Army Ammunition Plant was founded in 1907 as the Texas Ammunition Depot, and was renamed the Flower Mound Army Ammunition Plant in 1917. The plant produced shells for the American Expeditionary Force during World War I, and also produced munitions for use by the Texas National Guard. The plant was closed in 1957, but reopened in 1959 as a research and development center for Northrop Grumman Corporation. The plant closed again in 1984, but reopened as an ammunition factory in 1995. The plant has been closed several times since then, most recently in 2003 when it was sold to a private company.
Flower Mound, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. Flower Mound was founded on October 15, 1859 by a group of settlers from Kentucky who named it after Flora Dallas. The town grew slowly until the late 19th century when cotton farmers established plantations there and began to produce cash crops such as sugarcane. Cotton production ended in the early 21st century as a result of other factors such as global competition and advances in technology. The first post office was opened in Flower Mound on October 9, 1864. A few years later the telegraph line from Houston was extended to Flower Mound and mail service began operation there on November 5, 1866. A local school district was organized in 1870 and new buildings were constructed including a high school which opened its doors for instruction on September 6, 1872. A new courthouse was completed in 1889 and served as court house until 1915 when it became the flower market headquarters before being moved out of state to Midland that year. In 1902 First Baptist Church started services here with Rev. Wm Henson officiating at first services under guidance of John Smeaton who had been an missionaries working with Baptists coming overland through Mexico City before reaching Flower Mound en route to San Antonio where he would preach for two years before his death on March 17th, 1903 at age 36 years old while preaching near Lubbock about four hundred miles northeast of Corpus Christi some time after leaving Mexico City.) This congregation continued talks with Revs Harry Brownell (1887-1937)and Floyd Covington (1937-1985) leading up to their merger into First Baptist North Brazoria Parish Branch #2 effective January 1st 1985; however due to large growth within our parish we have decided continue operations separately known now simply as “First Baptist” – one church with many members!

The Flower Mound community in rural Texas was established by pioneers in the 1840s. The area now known as Flower Mound was originally called Notch Hill, and settlers first moved there during the 1825-1830 period. By 1830, the community had grown to include a number of homes and a small store. In 1836, the first school was built in the community, and by 1840, all of the children of farm families were taught at home. The town grew rapidly due to its location near cattle ranches and water supplies. By 1860, most of the residents had relocated to other parts of Texas or Oklahoma. However, some members of the original population continued to live in Flower Mound until their death in 1907. The town played an important role in both local history and state history during its time as a center for agriculture. Many important events took place here – such as John Fetterman’s discovery of oil in 1901 – which helped promote Texas statewide exploration efforts. In addition, many Texans who served in Congress from those years are buried here including Sam Houston (1835-1913), William Boggs (1863-1937), and Elisha Kent Kane (1868-1946). Today, remnants of Flower Mound still exist as a small agricultural community with a few hundred residents located east of I-10 on FM 522 just outside Lubbock. The town is also home to several museums that offer interesting insights into local history: Museum Of Texan Cultures contains artefacts dating back to before European settlement; while Southwestern Folklife has exhibits focusing on traditional cowboy life and culture across various regions throughout Southwest US; while Fort Worth History Center offers information abouttx’s military past from prelude through present day
The Flower Mound, Texas Political History Museum contains a wide variety of artifacts and items related to the history of the town. The museum was founded in 1978 by then-Mayor Harry Edwards and current Mayor Don Pemberton. It is open Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm, and Saturday 10am to 3pm. Admission is free for all guests.
