The National Guard of El Campo, Texas was formed on July 1, 1949. The first members were drawn from the cities of San Antonio and Austin. The Guard was originally called the Volunteer Infantry Regiment but changed its name to the National Guard on December 15, 1949. On September 27, 1951, El Campo became the first city in Texas to have a military detachment within its borders. The detachment served as an armory for local units and also done drills at nearby Air Force Base. In 1959, a Public Works Administration (PWA) project cost $1 million to build a new courthouse and jail in town. The building was dedicated on October 10th by Governor John Connally. A year later, on November 8th, 1960, another PWA project worth $2 million was completed in town; this time being the construction of a municipal water system which included sewer lines and meters throughout town. As part of this project two rifle ranges were built; one north of town near Lululemon Creek Park and another located just east of I-10 between Loop 410 and I-35w near Airport Road/I-15 south of Town Center Mall. In 1966 the National Guardsmen mobilized for Operation "Dirty Dozen" which targeted Mexican bandits operating throughout Western Texas during that year's drought conditions. In 1969 El Campo became home to Headquarters Battery (hqb), 2nd Battalion (El Paso), 5th Infantry Regiment when it moved from Waco to San Angelo after 3 years deployments in Vietnam as part of 101st Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team/3rd Infantry Division Reserve Component command structure there until 1987 when it returned home under direct III Corps command structure as Headquarters Battery (hqb), 2nd Battalion (El Paso) 5th Infantry Regiment with elements assigned back into III Corps Tactical Command support role until disbanded effective January 1st 1992 upon conversion back into Richardson Army Depot unit status when Headquarters Battery Richardson Armored Cavalry Detachment reorganized under 8th Troop Carrier Wing commands concurrently there until disbanding effective August 31st 2002 concurrent with conversion back over management authority from II Corps Tactical Command Support Command component thereof unto III Corps Tactical Command support command thereby ending service history with El Campo Municipal Police Department

The El Campo National Guard was organized on Dec. 15, 1912 as the 3rd Battalion, Texas National Guardsman. The battalion served in World War I and the Mexican-American War. It was reactivated on Jan. 1, 1935 as the 163d Infantry Regiment of the National Guard. It served in World War II and the Korean War. The regiment was redesignated as the 163d Infantry Brigade on Separate Order No. 9 dated Nov. 10, 1951 and activated on Jul 1, 1955 at Lubbock Air Force Base with Headquarters Company at Grand Prairie while two brigades were activated at San Angelo Army Ammunition Plant and Longview Army Depot respectively On Separate Order No. 12 dated Aug 5, 1957 both brigade headquarters were relocated to El Paso where they remain to this day
El Campo is a city located in Hudspeth County, Texas, with a population of about 60,000. The city was founded in 1881 by Dutch immigrants and was named after the camp that they had been camping in during their journey to Texan holdings. The first store in El Campo opened its doors in 1887. The city began to grow rapidly after it was designated as a county seat in 1889. By 1912, the population of El Campo had reached 100,000 and it became an official U.S. City on December 12, 1912. The economy of El Campo is primarily based on manufacturing and agriculture which provides jobs for many people within the community. Many industries have been located within the city limits over the years including leather production (now known as Beaumont), Printing and Publishing (now known as Midland), Dymaxion Disco Manufacturing (now part of JVC Electronics Co., Ltd.), Rubber Manufacturing (now known as Southern California Carpeting Supplies), Cheese Making (now part of Kraft Foods Inc.) and fireworks manufacturing ( now owned by MECO Corporation). Today, El Campo is home to many popular cultural attractions such as Stonewall Jackson Museum & Cultural Center which tells the story of one of America's most famous Confederate soldiers; Rancho San Antonio State Park which offers beautiful views of Llano Creek; Don Carlos’ Palace Theater which has hosted plays by Tennessee Williams and Richard Rodgers; El Paso County Courthouse where cases heard throughout Texas are filed; and much more!

El Campo, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 579 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1884 by John Denton and other pioneers as a cattle ranch. El Campo has been named for General José de El Rancho Casañon y Pavón, who fought against Mexican forces in the Texan Revolution. The first settlers to arrive in what is now El Campo were French Canadian farmers, who began to settle there in 1843. By 1851, Englishmen had also joined the colony and began to farm here. A post office called El Campo was established on January 1, 1854, and remained open until it was discontinued on December 31, 1907. In 1865 El Campo became the county seat of Hudspeth County; it remains that today. The city of Austin took over responsibility for government services within Hudspeth County when it was created on February 2, 1911; however, much of Hudspeth County's agricultural land still lay fallow until 1943 when a new irrigation company came into being which donated most of its land to help feed cotton fields throughout central Texas through what are now known as Brownwood Farms (now part of Villa Park), Pearsall Landing (now part of Manor), Little Elm (now an unincorporated community), White Sands Prairie (now an unincorporated community), and Round Rock West (now part of Flower Mound). Slavery was abolished in Texas on April 6th slavery ended state wide effective July 6th 1850 with all slaveowners becoming freeholders or losing their slaves status; this change freed up acres from bondage which could be used for farming/ ranching purposes without having any legal ownership taken away from them so these people continued to exist as farmers/ ranchers even after emancipation In 1928 Ewing Hargrave opened his famous Hargrave's Store located at 8031 FM 1492 about two miles east southwest of present day El Campo off US Highway 380 near mile marker 152 just east side Big Spring Creek where he raised pigs and hams until his death in 1959 due to natural causes only 3 years old
