Edinburg, Texas is home to one of the most significant maritime gift history experiences in the United States. The city and its waterfront are known for their annual Corpus Christi Jazz and Seafood Festival, which celebrates world-renowned jazz musicians and seafood chefs from around the globe. In 1984, then Mayor Lamar Alexander participated in what was then called "the opening night" of the festival when he became Texas Gov.. Each year since then has seen more significance attributed to the event – both nationally and internationally – with each edition becoming more popular among music lovers throughout America. In recent years, events have shifted focus away from jazz to include blues and soul performers as well as vendors selling seafood items from all over South America and Asia. This year's Corpus Christi Jazz & Seafood Festival will be headlined by Brazilian singer euforia on Saturday July 12th at 6pm followed by Louisiana’s Tedschi Trucks Band on Sunday July 13th at 3pm..!

Edinburg is a city located in the south-central part of Texas, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hudspeth County. The town began as a small post office called "Munster" in 1876 and has since grown to become one of the most important economic and social centers in Hudspeth County. The primary industry now that Edinburg supports is trade and commerce, with manufacturing (primarily agricultural) declining significantly over the years; however, it still remains an important center for education and healthcare services. The city was founded by Scotsmen who had come to Texas during the Mexican American War to help fight for Mexico against American forces. Afterward, they built a log cabin on what is today's corner of US Highway 281st Street and Elm Street, just east of present-day downtown Edinburg. In 1881, John Hodge purchased land from these Scotsmen and started building what became known as Hodge's Landing -later renamed simply Edinburg - as a summer home for his friends and family. Over time, Hodge's Landing grew into what is now known as downtown Edinburg. By 1900, there were over 100 residents living in downtown Edinburg; however, this number peaked at around 300 in 1925 because of World War I casualties which forced many people out of town. In 1907, when Hudspeth County was created from parts of Travis County, Edinburg became its county seat according to then-current county law. The first courthouse building was erected on Main Street in 1914; but due to fire damage done by Hurricane Floyd in 1995*, both buildings were replaced by new ones within two years*(*See: "HudspethCounty History" online). Today's main shopping district – Downtown Edinburgh – developed around this time with several large department stores opening up along Main Street inside or near modern day City Hall Plaza (formerly known as Third Avenue Park). This area eventually became known as "DowntownEdinburgh." For more than 50 years following its incorporation into Hudspeth County*,Edinburgh served primarily as a bedroom community for rural Texans who could not afford live outside the cities*. However, starting in the late 1990s/early 2000s*, large numbers of people from surrounding counties moved into Edinburgh*(*See: "Population growth rates (%)" online). This migration helped spur development along 3rd Avenue Park – formerly known locally simply as Second Ave./Edinburgh Place*(*) – which currently houses approximately 150 businesses including several high-end restaurants such as Palace Grille & Barbecue *(*)As well as numerous cultural attractions such As The Scottish Rite Cathedral & Presbyterian Church *(*)& St Andrews Episcopal Chapel *(*)& Edinburgh Historical Museum
