The first coffee beans were grown in Eagle Pass by José Antonio Peña in 1868. The first store opened up in 1869 and the town became known for its high quality coffee. In 1924, Juan Valdez started the Valdez Coffee Company and it remains one of the most successful small towns inAmerica today. Valdez Coffee continues to produce high-quality coffee until this day with over two dozen stores across America selling their products. Today, Eagle Pass is a sleepy little town with a rich history that can be enjoyed by all who visit. Eagle Pass coffee history begins with the arrival of Spanish settlers in 1821. The area was already known for its fertile soil and cattle herds, so the Spaniards set up a small rancho (farm) near the present-day town of Eagle Pass. They also began to trade goods with Native Americans, and by 1830 there were two cafes in Eagle Pass - one run by Antonio Gomez and the other by Francisco Gomez. In 1833, José Vasquez founded a brewery in Eagle Pass that became famous for its coffee. By 1840, there were three Starbucks located in Eagle Pass: Casa de las Pulgas (house of worms), La Bodega San Miguel (The Bottle Shop), and Café Milagro (Café Miracle). In 1862, John Hargrave opened his first grocery store in downtown EaglePass. By 1870, EaglePass had four churches - two Episcopal, one Roman Catholic, and one Methodist - as well as six schools: three public schools, one private school operated by nuns called Convento de Nuestra Señora del Rosario; and two academies: The College of Learning for Women (now University of Texas at Austin) and El Colegio de Santa Fe de Arriba y Abajo (The Collegiate School from Below). Crawford Gentry developed an acreage southwest of the town on which he built an experimental cotton farm in 1901-1902 that yielded some 6000 bales of cotton. He also donated land tothe town for commercial purposes.
Eagle Pass is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock-San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Eagle Pass was founded by New Mexico ranchers in 1881 and became an important agricultural center during the early 1900s. The town was destroyed by a fire in 1910 and has since been rebuilt. Eagle Pass is located on State Highway 183 about 15 miles (24 km) east of Austin along the Mexican border and about 30 miles (48 km) west of San Antonio on US 82. According to the 2010 census, the population of Eagle Pass had declined to 1,646 people and 652 households as of July 2012. The first Europeans to visit Eagle Pass were José de Urquiza and Miguel Mora y Morales who crossed over from Mexico into Hudspeth County in 1821 for trade purposes. They named their crossroads "El Paso" after General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's victory over Mexican forces at Palo Alto on November 25, 1800 near what is now San Marcos military post known as El Paso del Rio Grande which they thought would be easier for travelers to find because it was not isolated by mountains like many other places in that area at that time. The first permanent settler in Eagle Pass was George Witherington who arrived in 1881 with his family from Kentucky via Brownsville and established himself on a farm south of present-day downtown EaglePass proper. He built a log cabin on what is now Post Office Road which still stands today; he also platted what are now parts of downtown EaglePass together with some other early settlers including James Mowers who settled along Slaughter Lane between current day Post Office Road and Loop 1604 just northeast of downtown; these land grants were patented March 3, 1886 under state law 757 Sess., conditioned upon payment of £1 per acre payable within three years thereafter! In 1907 J C Loyd opened his general store at corner Main Street/Post Office Road & US 83 north side - this was soon followed by H F Kline's grocery store opposite corner Main Street/US 83 south side c1907). In 1913 G A Hamlin opened his hardware store across Center Street from future city hall building - this building still stands today adjacent to Raytheon Company plant across IH 35W just northwest of downtown! These businesses thrived until around 1930 when World War II interrupted commercial activity throughout much OF TX due to rationing movements! By 1945 all but one business had closed or moved out leaving only Lumber Yards Store operational as furniture retailer remaining open until 1951!! This store later went outOf Business completely unable to compete with Ikea stores opening up shortly afterwards!. The last business owner died circa 1961! Lone Star Furniture Music Hall - another small retail facility operated intermittently inside old high school prior To its demolition - ceased operations circa 1975!. Some interesting facts about this period: - All six businesses listed above organized themselves as Business Association No 4 immediately before prohibition began; - At least one additional business affiliated itself with Association No2 during prohibition although no record exists thereof; Later organizations included Independent Grocery Merchants Assn., Texas Retail Merchants Assn., National Hardware Manufacturers Assn., Associated Merchandise Mart Co Incorporated & National Bank Llc.; and eventually Local Chamber Of Commerce...”

Eagle Pass is a town located in Eagle County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1876 by settlers from Illinois. In 1881, the first post office opened in Eagle Pass and remained open until 1912. The first store was built in 1885 and the first school in 1907. The construction of the San Antonio-Houston Railroad through Eagle Pass made it an important commercial center for the region. A cotton gin and mill were erected here in 1895 and 1896, respectively. In 1905, a hotel and restaurant were built on Main Street; these remain active today as businesses. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson visited Eagle Pass to discuss railroad projects with local officials during his tour of Texas. During World War I, Eagle Pass became a military base with storage facilities for munitions supplies and aircraft refueling operations at nearby Hill Country Airport (now Loop 12). subsequent installations included ammunition plants (1921), an electric power plant (1924), a water treatment plant (1929), a housing development (1945), and a new courthouse (1966). Military activity declined after World War II but continued until 1974 when all troops departed except for those occupying Fort Bliss near Dallas-Fort Worth Airport which continues to be occupied by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers today as Arlington National Cemetery
