The coffee industry in Eagle Pass, TX began in the early 1800s as a result of the location’s sandstone soils and hot summer weather. The area was first settled by Mexican Americans who grew coffee as part of their agricultural economy. In 1849, an American Express Company sent a team of missionaries to Eagle Pass to promote Christianity and fortify the town. The company also built a trading post in the town which served as a center for Native American trade. The arrival of these factors led to increased demand for coffee from Mexico, and over time, other parts of Texas as well. By 1870, Eagle Pass had become one of the most important coffee-growing regions in North America due to its highquality soil and warm climate. In 1898, Spanish explorer Pio Pico discovered oil fields near Eagle Pass while on his way southward through Texas. As a result, oil became an important factor in local economic development throughout the late 1800s and into the 1900s. However, production dwindled during World War I because of restrictions placed on Mexican exports by U.S. authorities; however, this changed after Armistice Day when President Woodrow Wilson announced that all hostilities had ended and Mexican nationals were now free to export oil without government restriction

Eagle Pass is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,864 at the 2010 census.The name Eagle Pass comes from the fact that the pass across the Arkansas River forms the border between Hudspeth and Presque Isle counties. The town was platted in 1881, and named for Captain George A. Eagle of the Texas Rangers. The first post office in Eagle Pass was established in 1881, and its first residents were John Boice and his wife Sarah Hinton. In 1906, John Fenton opened a general store here which became one of the largest in town until it closed its doors in 1984. James Waddell operated a grocery store from 1912 to 1915 before moving to El Paso to open a grocery there also. Jens Petersen opened an ice cream parlor here in 1924 which continued operation until it closed its doors two years later due to fire damage. After World War II, many businesses moved away from Eagle Pass-most notably Anheuser Busch Brewery who built their own brewery near Morehead City-but some remain including Waddeth's Store which reopened after being closed for several years due to fire damage caused by Hurricane Katrina; Petersen's Ice Cream Parlor which continues operation as of 2018; and Joe's BBQ where recent operations have included catering services for local events as well as private parties

Additionally, EaglePass has hosted several rodeos including the Lone Star Rodeo in 1961 and 2003, and has also been host to other events such as Balloon Fiesta in 1936 and Quadrille Ball in 1951.
