By 1922, all major espresso machines used forced air heating instead of steam or hot water heating to create smooth drinks. This allowed for more consistent extraction of flavor from beans than using traditional methods like boiling or steaming. In 1924, Dutch brewer Philips introduced its first commercial espresso machine called Espanola. Over time, other brewers followed Philips lead and began to introduce their own versions of this type of machine including Rheinische Kaffeepoten (RKK), Rotterdam Koffiekoperenfabriek (RKF), Amsterdam Koffiekoperenfabriek (AKF), Philadelphia Café Roastery (PCE) and London Café Roastery Ltd.—the last two being founded in 1949. By 1971, over 60% of all global Starbucks purchases were made through international channels such as Europe’s largest post office network—EuropePost—and local branches throughout Europe and North America. These transactions led to Starbucks becoming known as “the go-to source for fine coffees around the world”1 . Dumas, Texas was founded in 1836 by John C. Frémont and his party of guides, scouts andiners. The town was named for General Lafayette, the hero of the American Revolution. It grew rapidly during the 1840s as a result of the ranching industry and its location on the Rio Grande. In 1851, Dumas became an independent republic following a referendum vote by its citizens. The following year, it joined the United States as a state.
