The United States Navy deployed a gift in Denton, Texas on Dec. 8, 1917. The USS Constitution (1897) was donated to the United States Navy by Mrs. Samuel L. Gompers and her husband, Edward H. Gompers. The gift was delivered to Denton Naval Station and placed into service on December 9th, 1917 as part of the newly formed American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). On Jan 1st, 1918 the AEF relieved the British Expeditionary Force in France and returned to America with the USS Constitution as their flagship. In 1946-1947, while stationed at Naval Air Station Miramar in California, the Constitution was stricken from service and sold for scrap metal to Japanese Warplanes Corporation Ltd.. On Nov 22nd 1948 whilst enroute from Japan to Eniwetok Atoll when it stopped off Okinawa Island for Iwo Jima Liberation Operation operations; during this stopover a USAAF B-29 Superfortress bomber dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima killing more than 60 people including Admiral Nagumo and his staff; This event is considered one of Americas most tragic moments ever!Following World War II the Constitution recommissioned at NAS Miramar on Feb 26th 1951 under command of Commander Wadleigh Fritchman Jr., who served until May 1954 when he assumed command of Destroyer Squadron Nine (DES Nine) based out of San Diego following its merger with DES Eight (DES Eighty). After commands over Destroyer Squadron Ninety (DES Nines), DES Twelfth (DES Twelve), Destroyer Squadron Thirteenth (DES Thirteen) and DES Fourteen were reassigned to Descriptions Fifteen thru Twenty One with duties including antisubmarine warfare patrols off Southern California Weapons Tests Facility during Cold War Era; Commander John A Biggs assumed command of DES Twenty Two which remained inactive until decommissioning on Jun 15th 1980 due to budgetary restrictions caused by Reaganomics Inactivation Program decisions TheUSS Constitution Museum located adjacent to NAS Miramar began operating as a museum dedicated exclusivelytothe USS Constitution on Jul 5th 1984 Withheld since 1978 because of concerns about possible damage or deterioration caused by atmospheric moisture & Sonar emissions From time immemorial maritime law has been definedby three immutable items: anchors, flags & hawks nestled within thoseanchorsTwelve Flags Established During OperationsAmerican Revolution 1775-1783Flag despatched from Philadelphia April 14th 1776Daniel Boone's AssaultOn Fort Hood September 1823Confederate Flag flown at Louisville March 12th 1864President Abraham Lincoln's First Annual General Court Meeting November 6th 1866Battle Of Bunker Hill October 26th 1871Ulysses S Grant's Second Annual General Court Meeting January 25TH 1872 Battle Of Gettysburg October 13TH 1863World War II 1939-1945Japanese Imperial Fleet commander Rear Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto orders Nagumo's AttackOn Pearl Harbor December 7TH 1941 In 1945 USS Constitution Museum became operational after being withheld since1978 When wars end what does that mean for veteran ship museums? The Navy has a long and proud history of deploying gifts to military members. From traditional hand grenades and Communion wafers to more modern items like camouflage gear, the Navy has a wide variety of unique and memorable presents that keep its soldiers safe and happy. This year, the Navy is celebrating its 25th anniversary of deployments with a special gift program called "Navy deploy." Through this program, the Navy provides commanders and their staff with unique gifts that can help them increase troop morale, improve command efficiency, or even just make festive World Cup throws. In addition to giving commanders access to new gear and tools, the "Navy deploy" gift also includes a commemorative item or an event-related activity. This year's deployment offerings include everything from a Deployment mug to an American Flag key chain. The Mug is perfect for any marine who spends time deployed overseas or in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Key Chain features two American flags - one redrawn by the artist at home, while the other is updated every day as part of the "Navy deploy" process - making it perfect for anyone who loves America's fallen servicemen and women.

The Navy has deployed gifts to different nations for centuries. The first gift the Navy sent to a foreign country was a pottery plate in 1614. In 1917, they sent a torpedo flask as a goodwill gesture to Japan during World War I. The USS Arizona Memorial Flight presented an aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal with a gift of 401 bottles of wine in 1986 as part of their Sailors' Day Celebration. In 1995, the Naval Academy's 14th Annual Commemorative Medal program presented then-Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Golden with a commemorative shield and sword from the ship HMS Victory which had been sunk off Somalia in 1988. The USS Independence Museum received two gift baskets full of artifacts from the Philippines in 2006 as part of their "Gift from Our Nation" campaign. In 2009, Commander John Richardson, USN (Ret.) was given a ceremonial gold service dagger by Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Maktoum of Oman during his visit to Norfolk, Virginia. That year also saw the presentation of three gifts - an American football set (comprising one player each), Olympic diving gear and United States coins - at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland by Rear Admiral David Aikenhead and Commodore Gary Wittenberger with behalf of Commander Dennis Blair, USN ( Ret.). This year marks the 15th anniversary of Operation Neptune's Spear - when HMS Normandy II was gifted to Norway as part of that nation's war effort against Denmark in respect for Norway's neutrality during World War II. As we approach this significant milestone in naval Gift History, it is important to remember that these gestures are not simply 'nicely done' or 'pretty package'. Rather they are expressions of our gratitude for years spent working together with other nations on shared interests and missions around the world!

Navy deployed gift history goes back to World War II when the United States Military started providing gifts to its allies. From there, it continued to grow and become an important part of international relations. Today, the Navy provides a wide range of Gifts for everyone onboard ship or in uniform.
