The Air Force gift history in Denton, Texas goes back to the early days of the USAF when Headquarters, Air Forces was located at Lackland AFB. The first gifts were given by Colonel William H. Chandler who served as Commanding Officer at Lubbock AFB before being transferred to Denton AFB in 1947. Lt. General Hoyt S. Denton is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 29,412 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tarrant County and home to many electronics and technology businesses. Denton is located on the banks of the Brazos River, just north of Fort Worth. The site for what would become Denton was chosen by Native American traders in 1839 as a place to erect a trading post. This initial stop became an important center for cattle drives from present-day Texas into Mexico during the 1840s and 1850s. In 1876, J.B. Spink built a school and store near what would later be called Spink Boulevard in downtown Denton to serve this new community. A year later, he donated land for Baylor University's first campus in Dallas–Fort Worth area (now Baylor University). The university moved its main campus from Waco to Denton in 1931 amid growth within Tarrant County that led to proposals for other counties within Tarrant County as well – including Plano (1932), Arlington (1934), Garland (1935), Richardson (1936) and McKinney (1937). Finally, on December 15, 1941 after World War II had ended with Japan's surrender, Denton became part of the newly formed United States when Texas became one state under President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal program. In 1950s there were some construction projects like Interstate 10 which went through town limits but without any impact on residents or businesses until 1957 when it got so bad that they started protesting using slogans "It doesn't matter where we go as long as we're not going anywhere." That same year developers bought up all of downtown businesses including most stores along I-10 which eventually closed down making it impossible for people who depended on those businesses to continue doing business even if they wanted to because no one could go outside without risking being stopped or ticketed by law enforcement. In 1958 developer Lamar Hunt convinced Mayor Hite to sign an ordinance allowingooters onto public streets who were then tearing down old buildings with permits given out free of charge. In response citizens gathered together organized themselves into "Community Watch" which has been monitoring environmental conditions ever since although their activities have been largely nonviolent.

In 1951, Mayor John Connally dedicated what is now known as Klein Park (later renamed Brown Park) to commemorate local servicemen who lost their lives during World War II. Denton is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1836 and named for Major General James Denton. The population was 21,487 at the 2010 census. The first settlers to the area were farmers who arrived by wagon train in 1836. The town of Denton was founded on November 3, 1836 by Captain Robert Epps and his men from New Orleans. A post office was established here on November 5, 1836 under the name of "New Town". In 1840, the town became part of Tarrant County when it was created from parts of Dallas and Fort Worth counties. The first store in Denton was built on Post Road east of present-day Elm Street in 1840. By 1850, there were six stores and one blacksmith shop in the town. By 1860, there were twelve stores and two hotels in Denton. In 1865, a sawmill and grist mill were built northeast of present-day Elm Street; these mills later became part of the local telephone company's facilities before being demolition in 1992. In 1870–71, Wacoaland Manufacturing Company began production with machines that manufactured saddles for horseback riding; this activity led to the name "Denton Saddle Mfg."company until 1915 when Wacoaland changed its name to American Saddlery Company Incorporated (ASCI). ASCI produced saddles until 1978 when it merged with Brown & Williamson to form Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation (B&W). In 1888–89 an oil well operations started producing light crude oil near Denton Creek; this well led to development around Bexar Lake as Refinerytown which now includes areas such as Grand Prairie Beach Park/Refinerytown Marina located just north of Interstate Highway 10 about northwest of downtown Denton proper along Highway 183 or IH10 East exit 214A approximately 2 miles southeast from refinery entrance off IH10) . . . By 1912 Refinerytown had 8 blocks long with a total population density over 20 persons per block; Refinerytown had 12 banks including 7 large banks plus several small banks... by 1922 only 2 blocks remained: West End Block (now known as Rice Village) where most businesses closed due to lack Of investment or competition from larger refineries located within walking distance
