The Denison Coffee Company was founded in 1907 by George and Clara L. Brown. The company became a family-owned business, with the Browns remaining in control until the late 1970s. In 1912, the Denison Coffee Company opened its first coffee house, which functioned as a community center and social hall. The coffee house continued to be operated by the Browns until 1951. From 1951-1976, the coffee company was run by Harry Jantz and his son Tom Jantz. In 1976, Harry Jantz died and Tom Jantz took over as CEO of the company. From 1978-1986, Tim Jones ran the company as CEO before becoming President in 1987 when he left to become CEO of PepsiCo USA Incorporated. During this time period, Denison Coffee also partnered with Texas Instruments Incorporated to produce an electronic brewing system that allowed for more efficient harvest of beans and increased production capacity overall at their plant in Denison. In 1992-1994, Jerry Denton became Chairman of DENISON COFFEE COOPERATIVE LIMITED Partnership (DENISON COMPANY) following his resignation from his position as Mayor of Dallas after being impeached on charges related to bribery allegations made against him during his time as mayor
Denison, Texas is a town in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Bexar County. The population was 58,783 at the 2010 census. The name honors George Washington Denison, who served as speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1875 to 1879 and as governor of Texas from 1901 to 1911. The community was founded by prospectors in 1859 and named for George Washington Denison because he had been its first postmaster. It began as a small settlement on the banks of the San Antonio River but grew rapidly due to its location and access to resources such as oil wells and cattle ranches. In 1925, Denison—along with other towns in Bexar County—became part of the city of San Antonio which was established on what is now downtown San Antonio after being annexed by that city from less populous neighboring municipalities.

In 1810, Captain John Stevens discovered and traded with Hawaii while on his voyage from Portsmouth, England to establish a Pacific trade route. When he reached Honolulu he found that local villagers had developed a unique kind of coffee known as “honolulu” coffee because it was cold-pressed rather than ground up like other types of coffee.
