The Soldiers and Sailors of the Second Infantry Division took to the streets of Denison for a major event that would have an impact on the town and its residents. They brought over 1,500 sacks of Christmas cheer to town square as part of a traditional military exchange program. In 1987, local high school students organized a “Custer Day†parade that included historical floats and displays from various businesses in town. More recently, members of the fort Worth community sponsored a holiday parade down Main Street which featured reindeers and Santa Clause on horseback. After the war, denaton grew into a large city with many manufacturing companies such as Wacoal, Alcoa, Schlumberger and Texaco among its residents.
