In 1946, Commodore James Lickman donated a total of 24 torpedo bombers (the only time these planes were gifted) which were instrumental in supporting Operation Neptune's Spear during the Vietnam War period.. Commodore Lickman also gave generously towards local charities such as Children’s Hospital & Research Foundation (CHRF), Future Farmers Of America (FFA), Stroudsburg School District #5 & Stroudsburg Area Chamber Of Commerce (SACOM). These donations continue today through contributions made by individual sailors or marines who serve aboard USS Decatur or USS Harry S Truman aircraft carriers located on deployment worldwide!

The Crowley Naval Depot was the first navy base in Texas. The depot was founded in 1849 and served as a naval supply depot for the Republic of Texas. In 1861, it became the first military post in Texas when Fort Worth was taken over by Confederate forces. After the war, the navy left and the depot became a store. It closed in 1967 and reopened as a museum in 1975.
Crowley is a small town located in Beaumont County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,392 at the 2000 census. Crowley is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land Combined Statistical Area. Crowley's ZIP code 77501 is withinHouston's boundaries. Crowley was founded on November 3, 1847 by John Wesley Crowley and his brother Jameson Crowley. It originally stood on the present site of what is now the city of Pasadena. The name "Crowley" comes from an old Cherokee word meaning "place where game can be hunted." In 1851, John Wesley Crowley bought some land east of Pasadena and built a cabin there which became known as the "House of Mystery". He also started to build a church in this area which he called the First Baptist Church of America (FBCA). That same year, Jameson Crowley purchased some more acreage east of Pasadena and continued to build his own home and church. They named their new home Trinity Episcopal Church after their mother, who was also named Trinity (meaning "all thingsholy"). On October 15th, 1853, John Wesley Crowley died suddenly at age 44 while travelling through Kansas with his family; thus ending any hopes that he would become president one day. However, this did not stop Trinity Episcopal from continuing to serve as both their primary church and residence until they moved into their current building in 1925. In 1865-66 when Mexico acquired California pursuant to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following its war with Spain over Texas annexation - Mexico ceded all but about 2 square miles along Uvalde Creek west of San Antonio to Texas including our present day cities Austin (later renamed Dallas) and Houston - making Crowleyshome for many Mexican families who had settled there during that time frame in order to escape military service or persecution back in Mexico City or other parts of Latin America during those difficult times. Some notable early residents include: Don Francis Pemberton (1865), Ignacio Ramirez y Ramos (1868), Alfredo Gonzalez y Peña (1870), Manuel Gonzales Castro(1872), Josefina Martinez de la Cueva y Montoya(1874), Francisco Moreno Canseco y Martinez(1876), Lorenzo Sanchez Flores(1878). On April 6th 1907 two people walked off a train into Mexicos national forest resulting in an FBI investigation called The Lone Ranger Scare that lasted for months across southern TX & West TX involving thousands law enforcement officers including agents from several agencies such as US Customs Service & Secret Service

Crowley, Texas was founded by the Mormons in 1847. The town was named for Crowley, New York, where a group of Mormon leaders had been meeting to plan their exodus from Nauvoo, Illinois. When they arrived in Texas, they decided to stay and build a community on the Paloma Creek Ranch. The first house was built in 1850 and the town began to grow. In 1854, the legislature created Crowley County and added it to the Mexican territory of Colorado. The Mormons continued to live in Crowley until 1868 when they left for Utah. The town experienced several growth phases during its early years. In 1851-2 there were two stores and six families; by 1860 there were ten stores and thirty families. In 1865-6 an agricultural society was organized with twenty members; in 1870-1 an insurance society with forty members; in 1875-6 an educational society with seventy members; and finally a library society with ninetyfive members in 1886! By 1890-91 there were one hundred fifty-six residents! In 1907 local newspapers reported that oil has been discovered at Crowley but no production commenced until 1912 when T&P Western Oil Company leased land from the government for drilling purposes. A refinery started up operation soon afterward which produced gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricants and other products used throughout Texas! By 1915 Crowley had eleven schools (grades K through 12)plus one post office (1912). There also existed a Masonic lodge (1886), Odd Fellows fraternity (1888), Baptist church (1892), Presbyterian church (1900), Methodist church (1901), cemetery(1890)and hotel(1897). Unfortunately gasolineproduction stopped around 1918 because of World War I restrictions on oil production! However some memorabilia associated with Crowley's early oil industry includes an old drill bit used by T&P Western Oil Company employees during drilling operations as well as various artifacts from this time including cowboy hats worn by men working on rigs!
Crowley, Texas was named for General James Crowley who was aide to President Andrew Johnson in the Vietnam War. The town was founded by cattle driveers in 1881 and soon became a center for cattle ranching. The original town site is now located in Llano County. In 1902, Crowley began to serve as the county seat of Llano County. It was moved to its present location in 1924.
