Crowley, Texas is known for its coffee. In fact, the town was once named after a coffee plantation in Brazil. The beans from this plantation were sent to Crowley to be roasted and sold. The first espresso machine in Crowley was made by Italian immigrants in 1892. Today, many establishments in Crowley serve coffee grounds from local farms and roasters. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf company was founded here in 1898 by two brothers, George and Harry Seligman. They started out selling just single-origin beans, but soon began marketing their products throughout the United States and Europe. By 1922, they had opened a large warehouse at 5800 West Loop 610 South in Dallas. Here they continued to roast and sell their beans until 1997 when they merged with Peet's Coffee Company. Today there are over fifty separate businesses that operate within the boundaries of Crowley Antique Mall which includes four main areas: the retro cafe area with its own ovens; the gift shop/entertainment complex; the restaurant/bar area with a wide variety of cuisine served both indoor and outdoor seating; and finally the business district including office buildings along Loop 610 South as well as several other stores used for warehousing or storage purposes only during periods of high traffic or when no one is serving food inside the mall itself (e.g., during holiday season). In addition to its namesake store - which has been closed since 2002 - Crowley also operates two other stores: One on Webb Road across from Interstate 10 near Fort Worth University; and another on I-10 East near State Fairgrounds outside Dallas - both of which carry a wide variety of coffee products from various roasters as well as pre-packaged snacks such as muffins, croissants, cookies etcetera

Crowley coffee started as a small farmers market shop in the heart of town. The first coffee was roasted and ground by their own family and hand-delivered to their customers. Crowley's rich history begins with its founding as a post office in 1881. The town grew around the railroad depot, which served as a community center and store until it burned down in 1903. The new post office opened in 1904, and the town name was changed to Crowley after Congressman John F. Crowley (D-TX). In 1961, Crowley became an Independent School District, and the first school building was built on land donated by Mrs. Lillian Waddell (wife of Senator Lloyd Waddell). In 1971, the Texas Legislature designated Crowley as the "Birthplace of Coffee" because of its longstanding role as a center for roasting and marketing coffee.
Crowley, Texas is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. Crowley is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The first people to inhabit what is now Crowley were the Kiowa and Comanche Native Americans who lived there for centuries before being displaced by European settlers in 1800. In 1871, General William Tecumseh Sherman took possession of land east of Dallas that included Crowley. The town was named after General Sherman's older brother-in-law Samuel Clemens, an American author and humorist who spent many years living in Austin and then Dallas before moving to Crowleysville near Midland in 1876. In 1899, President McKinley granted land to the town on which it stands on behalf of cattle ranchers John Cline and Wm. Henson Pritchard as a gift from America in memory of their late friend and ranch partner George Washington Carver. The townsite contains some of the earliest evidence found of human habitation in Williamson County dating back over 10,000 years ago when Paleoindians used caves here for shelter during winter months while they hunted big game across much of North America including deer, bear, wild cat and camel herds. The post office opened on July 1st 1902 under name Midland Heights with mail sent from Midland/Dallas through Palestine (near present day Wichita Falls) until 1907 when service was discontinued becauseMidland Heights had better facilities within its own limits than did Palestine which became Richardson (named for Governor Richards). On November 25th 1912 Clyde A Cooley handdelivered mail from Palestine via San Angelo to Crowley post office resulting in establishment by Postmaster Clyde A Cooley as Crowley TX US Mail Station with switchboard #941 at corner Main Street & Round Rock Rd

Crowley, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. Crowley has two churches: First Baptist and Methodist. Crowley also has a high school, Crowley High School which has won many state championships over the years including three state championships in wrestling. The first inhabitants of what is now Crowley were Cherokee who built their first log cabin around 1827 on land that became part of present-day Hudspeth County. A post office called Crowleysville was established in 1829 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The original settlers were farmers who raised cotton and other crops for local markets. In 1881, James Hickey settled there with his family and began to operate a sawmill which manufactured lumber for local homes and businesses. The town of Crowleysville prospered until phone service arrived in 1904 which led to an increase in business activity as people traffic from nearby Austin to purchase goods they needed but could not get delivered locally. By 1910, the population had reached 2200 with many stores, restaurants and churches existing within walking distance of each other. The telephone company abandoned Crowley after World War II because lines became available unaided by towers above ground like those used today; instead they built lines through Rosenberg into neighboring counties (Hudspeth then Travis) so customers could buy products directly from manufacturers rather than going through Crowley merchants who would then ship items back to Austin or Houston for final sale before being delivered to subscribers’ houses In 1951 when Hudspeth County formed its own government separate from Travis County it annexed much of northeastern Travis County including parts of present day Crowley along with most of Montague Village extending eastward into Lamar county forming what is now downtown Austin Crowley experienced rapid growth following annexation as new homes were built throughout downtown Austin while shops opened up along rural roadsides providing access to rolling countryside beyond Today about one-third or more of the workforce within DowntownAustin comes from outside the city limits although some jobs are still located within DowntownHouston
