The Corpus Christi Coast Guard has been providing law enforcement and emergency services on the Corpus Christi Bay waterfront since 1887. The Coast Guard Station at the Gulf of Mexico was established in 1907 and became a full-time Coast Guard Station in 1912. In 1927, the Coast Guard Station in Corpus Christi was transferred to the City of Corpus Christi as part of an agreement between the City and the Coast Guard. In 2006, jurisdiction over all beaches within city limits were transferred to the city from the Coast Guards District 12 East. At that time, responsibility for most beach patrols and traffic control was assumed by Police Department Beach Patrol Unit 2 (PBDU2). Since its inception as a coast guard station, Corpus Christi's COAST GUARD STATION has played an important role in keeping our community safe. From rescuing people who have gone overboard to providing emotional support during tragedies such as hurricanes Ike or Rita, our coast guard station has always offered support to those who call us home.

Corpus Christi, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 93,597 at the 2010 census, making it the third-most populous city in the Lone Star State after Austin and San Antonio. Corpus Christi is also home to missions including Dongan Hills Baptist Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. It is a seaport for large tankers docking at its Port Aransas terminal and has been known as "the shipyards of the Gulf" for its production of warships, submarines, and other naval vessels. The first Europeans to visit what is now Corpus Christi were Spanish fishermen looking for cod in 1602. In 1836, Mexico gained independence from Spain and began negotiations with Great Britain to become an independent country; British officials offered to protect Mexican ports if Mexico joined them as a nation. As part of this deal, British Admiral George Fenton agreed to build a military fort on an island in Lake Victoria near present-day Corpus Christi (then called Anacapa) in order to protect Mexican shipping during wartime. The fort was named Fort Caroline after Queen Caroline of England who had granted similar protection to Spanish ships operating between Vera Cruz and Monterrey during the War of 1812. Spanish traders soon discovered that landing on Anacapa would be much easier than sailing around Cape St Vincent because there was no wind or current pushing ships ashore; they developed methods of launching vessels intoAnacapa's sheltered waters without assistance from any land features whatsoever. By 1793, Navarro Island had been renamed Santa Maria de la Vereda after Father Miguel de Oviedo y Valdés who had visited it earlier that year while serving as Bishop of Nuevo Leon under Governor José Joaquín de Herrera y Costilla y Velázquez. After Mexican independence was recognized by Great Britain in 1821, Fort Caroline became known as Fort Victoria; however, when General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna took power in 1824 he decided against continuing English protection for Mexico and instead built his own fortress on Concepción Point which served as both military and commercial center for all southern Mesoamerica during his tenure as president (1825-30). This political decision led to economic decline for indigenous peoples living along Texcoco River due to increased competition from Anglo settlers seeking access to cheap labor; however, Creek Indians succeeded in driving out the English colonists by 1850 leaving only small amounts Of remaining English presence until 1861 when they were expelled following Confederate victories at Palo Alto Bridge over Sam Houston's army commanded by John Boggs (1861-65). In 1836 Congress passed an act authorizing President James Kenedy To build a wharf on Padre Island so that American goods could be unloaded there instead of being sent back upriver through Monterrey where customs duties were 12% higher than those collected at San Francisco Bayou du Salado where American goods were unloaded before being sent downriver again through Reynosa before finally entering Mexico City via Old Mole Hill crossing over Rio Grande close enough for American troops stationed there not only do we have direct evidence about how Americans viewed their role within Mexicans history but we can see today some remnants still extant today such as this Lookout Tower which overlooks downtown Corpus Christi
