The Corinth National Guard was first organized on December 15, 1865. The original citizens of Corinth, Texas were so inspired by the bravery and sacrifice made during the American Civil War that they decided to form a national guard to protect their town. On July 4th, 1872, the Corinth National Guard detachment was officially constituted as the 1st Cavalry Regiment of Texas A&M University’s (TCU) Cadet Division. On September 17th, 1896, it was reactivated as Company C of the 6th Infantry Regiment (Texas Rangers) under command of Colonel John L. Youngblood. In 1903, Company C was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Troop (HC Hutchins), which served in various capacities until its organization into Platoon H in 1946. In 1951-1952 HC Hutchins served two tours with US Army First Infantry Battalion 25th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning Georgia before returning to Corinth for three more years as Platoon Sergeant Major/Captain Bob Ney’s unit until his death in 1960; command then passed from Captain Ney to Lieutenant Colonel Roy J. Slaughter who relieved Slaughter on October 1st 1962 due to illness; Lieutenant Colonel Slaughter again took command on November 2nd when Captain Roy Wiegand retired from military service after forty years of distinguished service culminating with his retirement from active duty effective January 1st 1964 On February 3rd 1966 HC Hutchins became Command Sergeant Major for all units except Company E which remained commanded by Lieutenants Colonel James Blease and Stanley Grieve respectively Company E reorganized and redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery (HHB Olson) effective March 8th 1978 HHB Olson barracks were dedicated on April 20th 1979 On July 9th 1984 HHB Olson barracks were sold to Brazos Valley School District 1216 for use as classrooms while also serving as an armory storage facility
The National Guard is a volunteer force that is responsible for guarding public buildings, crossings and other areas where the nation’s capital, Washington D.C., or other major cities are located. The Guard also provides support to local law enforcement when called upon. The Guard was first organized in 1792 as an auxiliary of the militia. The Guard has grown from a small unit numbering just over 2,000 men in 1974 to over 27,000 today with responsibility for guarding more than 50 million people across the United States. National Guardsmen are typically paid by their state governments rather than by the federal government. This allows them to receive more money per hour worked and allows them to make better use of their time while performing their duties. In addition, they can retire earlier if they reach the age of 70 years old without having to take another year off of service after reaching retirement age in their state’s military system. Finally, all National Guardsmen have access to health insurance through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP).

It served as an infantry division during World War I, and was disbanded in 1921. In 1933, the Guard was reorganized as a battalion under the command of the Army's Infantry Division. The battalion patrolled the Texas-New Mexico border from 1934 to 1938. It was redesignated as a regiment in 1942 and served as an artillery division during World War II before being disbanded in 1945.

The Guard has grown into one of the most popular and well-funded militias in the country, with over 150,000 members across all 50 states. Corinth, Texas is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Corinth was founded by the Ysletts in 1887. Corinth has been a municipality since 1907 and is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The first settlers to Corinth were a group of Methodist missionaries from North Carolina who arrived in 1887. They established a log cabin on the east side of Clear Fork Creek near present-day Carthage Road. The town was named for Corinth, Mississippi, where they had preached. It took until 1908 for Corinth to become an incorporated municipality when it choice by vote of its citizens over whether it should be within Hudspeth County or Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. In 1916, after years of planning and construction work, Corinth's first public school opened. That same year also saw the first use of gasoline in Corinth when two automobiles used it to light up signs marking the start of US Highway 60A (now I-35W). In 1931, Corinth became one of thirty towns that accepted annexation by Round Rock metropolitan area; this event marked the beginning of what would become known as "the city movement" in central Texas
