Ewing and Wiley Whitehurst; it served as both a day and evening academy until 1888 when it became coeducational. A new school building was erected in 1912 by Jno Matson and dedicated on October 14th of that year; it served as the high school from its opening until 1956 when it became known as Converse Middle School again due to district changes within Ellis County which transferred ownership of McKinney High School from District 9 to District 10 following consolidation of district boundaries within Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex following the creation of annexation of numerous municipalities within Dallas/Fort Worth over time including Sweetwater Creek Village located east of downtown Dallas and Springtown located west of downtown Dallas resulting in the current location for McKinney High School between Main Street and Elmendorf Avenue with access to Interstate 20 through South Park Road providing quality transportation options for students coming into McKinney from all directions while still maintaining privacy for residents living inside those boundaries

The village had a population of about 100 people by 1920. In 1951 it had only 10 residents and by 1970 it had decreased to 5 residents. In 1978, Converse became one of the first communities to receive water from the Colorado River project which improved its infrastructure and gave it more resources for development. With water came technology which allowed for the construction of a new high school and two homesites were developed around the new school site which increased its population size to 20 people by 2000. Today, Converse has a full-time police officer and fire department as well as several churches including First Baptist Church whichservices both local and far-reaching visitors with programs such as music lessons and book signings downtown on Saturday mornings during worship services; along with other activities throughout the year like art exhibitions, golf tournaments, chili cookouts etc.. There are also numerous businesses that have been established over time such as convenience stores (Bargain Bin Super Store), grocery stores (Cafeteria Kroger), restaurants (Red Lobster)and bars/pubs (Pizza Hut).
