Cibolo was founded by pioneers on November 15, 1873 as a small town called "Citizensville". The name of the original town was changed to "Cibolo" because of its resemblance to a boa constrictor. The first post office in Ciboli opened on November 20, 1874. The first store in Ciboli was established by Wm. Fenton and Drury Hargrave. In 1886, Jno. Auner became the first white settler in what is now Cibolo when he arrived with his family from Missouri. He built an ranch near present day Interstate 10 and Deep Creek Road east of town. In 1907 representatives from Fort Worth picked up where local officials left off and lobbied for annexation into that city; this would later become one of the main reasons why Fort Worth grew so rapidly during the early 21st century while other smaller cities such as Dallas or Wichita saw only modest growth rates over that time period. On July 1, 1912, voters approved annexing Cibolo into Fort Worth (the process then known as “amending” boundaries). The population of c iboli had grown to nearly 100 people by 1914 when it joined the larger city proper though there were few stores or housing developments until World War II due to militaryBase construction nearby which caused many homes to be destroyed or moved away during those years; however since then most development has taken place within downtown Ft Worth with golf courses positioned around it for residents who like living close to work but still have easy access to all services and amenities available throughout Greater Ft Worth area including Dallas and San Antonio Municipal Schools systems

Cibolo is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. It was chartered on February 14, 1871 as the city of Lafayette. The population was 575 at the 2000 census. The community boosters of Lafayette convinced the legislature to create Cibolo as an agricultural and rail center for cattle shipping out of the state. The town's first post office was established in 1873. In 1902, when oil exploration began in Hudspeth County, Cibolo became a key stop on the oil trains that transported crude to Refineries along I-10. The influx of people and businesses led to growth in Cibolo and its annexation by neighboring Lamar in 1923. In 1957, Lafayette merged with nearby Plano to form what is now known as Plano-Lafayette Combined Statistical Area (CSA). A fire destroyed most of downtown Lafayette on July 8, 1951; however, citizens rebuilt quickly using local materials and labor. That same year saw the opening of Lafayettes Diner which remains one of Cibolo's mainstay restaurants today. On October 1st 1956 during Hurricane Claudine destructive winds downed power lines throughout much of south central Texas damaging or destroying many homes and businesses including Lafayettes Diner which reopened two days later after being repaired/repaired by volunteer firefighters from all over central TX
In 1836, the Cibolo Creek settlement was founded by Anglo-American settlers in present-day Cibolo, Texas. That year, the Mexican government granted permission to American traders to establish a ranch on the creek. The first Rancho Cibolo was established on November 15 of that year.
