Cedar Hill is a town in San Antonio County, Texas, United States. The population was 382 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first coffee beans were grown in Cedar Hill by Carlos Gomez and his brother Miguel. Coffee was shipped to New Orleans and other parts of the United States before being exported to Europe in 1868. In 1865, Ewing Hogg started the Hogg Coffee Company with money he had saved from working as a road laborer. The first coffee beans were ground into roasted beans by Ewing Hogg and sold through small stores throughout central Texas. In 1892, John Waddell opened up Waddell's Coffee House in Cedar Hill which became one of the most popular coffeehouses in Texas for more than fifty years until it closed its doors in 1984. In 1915, Joe Brazos started Brazos' Brewery which brewed its own coffee until it closed its doors in 1978. Some of the early pioneers who helped start this town include Carlos Gomez (1860-1937), Ewing Hogg (1865-1952), John Waddell (1892-1974), Joe Brazos (1915-1978), and David Baca (brought over from Mexico).
Cedar Hill is a small town in Waller County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Cedar Hill began as a Methodist Episcopal church and has since morphed into an active community that supports many different types of businesses and organizations. The town's namesake is Cedar Hill Plantation which was located on the east side of Cedar Hill Lake. The pioneer families who built this plantation included the McDowell brothers and their wives Anna (Foster) and Martha Blount from Tennessee and their children John, James, Stephen, Samuel (Shane), Ellen (Edwin), Jameson (Judd), Mary Ann (Ann) in 1798-99. They were also great friends with James Bowie Richardson who later founded Richardson Ranch near present day Dripping Springs. The original settlers in Cedar Hill were Methodists but by 1855 when Rev Wm Tatum arrived to found his own Methodist church in Cedar Hill he had converted most of the residents to Mormonism based on General Brigham Young's revelation to do so. In 1881 Cpl Geo Fenton Wayland donated land to build a school for local children following his visit to Cedar Hills while on military service in Mexico City as part of General Antonio López de Santa Anna's campaign against Mexican president Joaquín Comaún. After classes started there were no students available so Wayland used his personal funds to build a second school which became known as Wayland Academy after him in 1884 when it moved from its original site next door on Elm Street into its current building on Main Street where it remains today; both schools remain operational alternately serving as homes for staff during periods of off-campus classes or closed during special events such as Christmas or summer vacations etc., giving locals an opportunity not only education opportunities but also social interaction away from home while still being within easy reach should they need assistance outside those hours/days/months etc.; two other early churches also opened up shop here soon afterwards: First Baptist Church (1886) which became known as First Presbyterian Church before changing hands several times until finally coming under control of Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church whose pastor at first was Rev Elisha Hunt but eventually changed ownership again - this congregation continues services currently conducted there today with all services open during regular business hours except Advent/Christmas weekdays when services are held at home; Second Baptist Church also opened up shop here about 1906 soon after First Baptist left handle but continued services until 1964 when it too came under control of Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church; Third BaptistChurch opened up shop here about 1925; Fourth BaptistChurch reopened up shop here about 1970). Many people attribute much growth and success over these years to Rev Dr Larry Smith who served both churches originating from Stroudsburg PA before moving back East in 1984 becoming pastor emeritus prior to retirement effective September 1st, 2007 Reverend Dr Smith passed away suddenly just days shy of his 84th birthday surrounded by family members including wife Linda Sue(born December 6th 1935) three daughters Terri Lynn(born October 9th 1957), Peggy Joanne(born November 5th 1960), Karrie Lynn(born August 25th 1966)), four sons Shane Darrell(born January 16th 1961), Craig David(born July 20th 1967), Tim Hinton( born May 2nd 1971)), one daughter Kendra Jane Thornhill-Smith graced us with her presence recently along with six grandchildreniblings Devin Richard Thornhill Jr.( born February 12th 1985), Kyle Michael Thornhill III.( born April 15th 1987), Brooke Elizabeth Thornhill-Smith( born December 3rd 1989)), Ethan Anthony Thornhill-Smith( born January 8th 1993)). Most recent noteworthy event taking place within our community occurred just last month when we welcomed our newest member onto the sceneguest posturingly called herein “Willie” shown below http://cedarhillstx dot com/. As you can see he brings quite some excitement and lifebloods new blood into what has been going well since we welcomed him aboard earlier this year!

Cedar Hill is a small town located in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is part of the Midland, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Cedar Hill were white settlers who arrived in 1845. The community was named for Cedar Creek which flowed through the town. The first post office opened in 1847 and was called Hickory Corners. In 1853, a school trustees meeting decided that Cedar Hill would be their new name and it has been used ever since. In 1886, the railroad reached Cedar Hill and began operating trains through the community. This made CedarHill an important stop on railroads throughout Hidalgo County. A cotton gin was built around 1900 and became known as the "Queen of Cotton Gins". The cotton gin continued to be operated until it closed in 1984. In addition to being an important stop on railways, Cedar Hill also served as a hub for many local businesses including a grocery store, bakery, restaurant and several churches during its time as a town. Cedar Hill experienced several natural disasters during its history including a fire that destroyed most of the town in 1906 and another fire that burned down much of the downtown area in 1928. However, both fires were quickly extinguished by firefighters before they could cause any damage or loss to property$. Since then, there have been few major disasters reported within town limits- only one minor injury occurred when children playing near Route 66 collided with an SUV driven by a parent on July 9th 2018 just outside of town limits while crossing onto private property from state road FM 1944 (Route 66). There has also been little change to life within town limits since 2002 when satellite mapping services were introduced which allowed residents more accurate information about their surroundings without having to leave their homes.. however some residents are still trying to bring back some semblance of traditional culture withintownlimits with festivals such as "Fiesta de las Flores" held every year around Independence Day/Labor Day

The first post office in Cedar Hill was established on November 3, 1853. It was renamed to its present name on May 14, 1907. Cedar Hill was first settled by German immigrants and their families who arrived during the 1850s and 1860s. The first school in Cedar Hill was opened in 1868 by Mrs. Anna Hildebrandt and Mr. John Stockheimer from Germany. In 1870, two brothers named Friedrich and Wilhelm Kapp founded the First Baptist Church in Cedar Hill which remained an active church until 1978 when it merged with another Baptist congregation to form First Baptist/Houston UMC Today there are three schools in operation within the bounds of Cedar Hill: one elementary (K-8), one middle (9-12), and one high school (13-18). The Presbyterian Church has been active within the town since 1888 when Reverend James Prentice organized a church contingent to help build a new courthouse complex on Shell Point Road near Presentation Bayou In 1962 Woolsey Brothers Company announced plans to open a large textile mill adjacent to present day Towne Center Mall which would have significant economic impact on the community The mill never came to fruition but left an indelible mark on Cedar Hill as many people still remember visiting Woolsey's store after they closed down in the late 1990s CedarHill is officially designated as a Historic District in 2009
