The station supported the coast guard for 22 years and served as the command center for the Cedar Hill base of operations. The Coast Guard Station closed its doors on September 30, 1990.
Cedar Hill is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Cedar Hill is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. It is one of three towns in Cameron County that are still considered rural by most standards and retain many aspects of traditional small-town life. The first settlers to Cedar Hill arrived around 1859, when two brothers named James and John O'Donnell traveled from Mayo, Ireland on horseback to establish a trading post near what is now Cedar Hill. soon after they opened up trade with local farmers for goods such as flour and cattle. In 1865, James O'Donnell's son Michael founded another trading post known as Post Office Grove about five miles east of Cedar Hill; this location served as the nucleus for present-day Cedar Hill. Michael's son Maurice also helped set up Post Office Grove in 1875. By 1880, all three posts had closed due to lack of customers or competition from other settlements in the area. However, new settlers continued to arrive until around 1910 when more than half of the residents were recent Irish immigrants who had come through Ellis Island seeking work in America during its booming growth following World War I (the American Civil War). The post office closed in 1942 but reopened briefly under new management before closing again for good six years later (1948-1960) after which it lay dormant until reactivated by the Cameron County Historical Society under temporary management beginning in 1966 The society eventually purchased the property and restored both buildings back to their former glory as an historical museum open 9am-4pm daily except Christmas Day When it opens at 4pm Since its inception as a museum, Cedar Hill has attracted attention from scholars across America because it preserves typical small-town life while also revealing some unique aspects ofthat culture including its close connection with Irish immigrants who played a significant role in buildingCameron County’s history . Cedar Hill, Texas is a small town located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,827. Cedar Hill is known for its cedar-covered churches and surrounding forests. The name Cedar Hill comes from the Cypress tree that grows in the area and was once used to identify this community. The first settlers to live in what is now Cedar Hill were five men who came overland from Missouri in 1836. They named their community after another small town in that state, and they arrived on horseback through a narrow pass between two mountain ranges. The men built a cabin near wherepresent-day Cedar Hill stands and began to found a new settlement. The original settlers were farmers who grew corn, beans, hay, oats, and other crops; however, within years they had erected buildings which still stand today: one house dating back to 1840 is still standing and may be visited by visitors today. In 1845 three more families moved into the area: these were the Lees, Richardsons, and Peebles; all of whom would later become prosperous farmers themselves. By 1860 there were 11 residents living in Cedar Hill; however, by 1870 only four people remained living there permanently due to various factors such as illness or death of those that had originally settled thereabouts. In 1876 Captain George Aylwin Clements became one of Canada's first white men to explore land west of the Rocky Mountains when he journeyed southward from Fort Worth via Spring Branch Creek before crossing over into present-day Texas at San Antonio de Bexar (now part of Austin). Upon his arrival at Cedar Hill he noted an impressive cedar wooded region east of him but no settlements or trees growing therein; consequently he assumptions it must be uninhabited because no human being has ever lived there since his day! It should also be noted that while Captain Clements' visit marked an important event for Texans as well as Canadians overall it also served as a WARNING sign not to cross certain boundaries without proper licenses or permission! After spending several weeks exploring this potential wilderness blockage he returned safely back home on October 14th following what must have been an exciting journey! This mention aboutCaptain Clements' trip serves as yet another example how important it was for early Texans - both Americans & Canadianvoices -to get their bearings before venturing further into uncharted territory! It wasn't until 1861 when John Fenton established himself northeast of where present-day CedarHill lies when finally some settlers decided it might make sense to move closer towards Houston so Fenton purchased 5 acres adjoining what is now Third Street Baptist Church for $5/acre/year/mortgage etc...? This purchase allowedFenton & his family alot more space with less worry about running out food or water during times of drought etc...? Thereafter numerous families relocated next door including Waddell & Browning whose daughter married John Gassaway (son-in-law #2) who then father’d 4 children born at “Gassaway Place”…the future Govt.-School District office building stood on current 3rd St NW corner then Just SW corner lot now owned by Mrs Hildebrandt (Daughter Of Mr Geo E Hildebrandt Sr.) Her husband bought her half interest circa 1930s??? Now property lines have been changed so building sits on lot now known as Elmendorf Rd
