In 1954, the United States Air Force deploy a gift for general Dwight Eisenhower. The KC-135 Stratotanker was ordered by Ike and delivered to Langley AFB in Virginia on July 10th, 1954. It arrived with an experimental engine that flew for the first time on December 3rd, 1954. General Eisenhower used the KC-135 Stratotanker as his personal airlift vehicle from Europe to Washington D.C., frequently flying into and out of Andrews AFB using its aerial refueling capabilities. The aircraft is still in use today and is used by the USAF when needed for long range operations or deployments outside of the continental United States. The Stratotanker has been involved in many conflicts including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Neptune’s Spear which were all conducted within Iraq or Afghanistan.

The 20th century saw much progress for Carrollton with new infrastructure projects such as the construction of two expressways which connected the town to Dallas and Houston. In recent years, however, Carrollton has faced increased competition from nearby Fort Worth due to its higher quality of life and more diverse population.

However, Carrollton remains one of the most notable communities in Central Texas today.
