In 1836, he opened a shop called Cline’s Gun Emporium on Second Street. This store was eventually replaced by a larger building on Fourth Street. The store sold firearms from both retail and wholesale outlets. In 1852, Captain Fenton became the owner of the old Randolph House on Third Street. This house had been used as a jail for many years before it was turned into a hotel. Captain Fenton began selling firearms from his hotel room. From here, he also started selling ammunition and other items related to shooting sports. In 1856, Johnnie Caldwell opened his own shop on Fifth Street in Burkburnett. This store became known as the Caldwell Arms Company. It operated until 1902 when it went out of business due to World War I restrictions on gun sales at that time. Afterward, Johnnie Caldwell continued to sell firearms through his son-in-law, James Waddell Jr., until he died in 1922。 In 1907, Burkburnett native Forrest Tucker opened The Tucker Firearms Shop on Eighth Street in town proper along with another weapons store called The Judd Store (owned by Rev Moses Judd). Burkburnett, Texas is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of the United States. The community was founded in 1892 by Colonel John Burkburnett and his family. The first post office in Burkburnett was established in 1893. In 1957, the community became a city with its own government and mayor. As of 2018, the population of Burkburnett was 2,898 people. Burkburnett began as a cattle ranch and farming village. Colonel John Burk Burnett purchased over one thousand acres of land west of Fort Worth in 1892 for $5 per acre. Originally planned to be called "Beaumont," Burk Burnett renamed the settlement after himself because he felt it would give him more prominence locally. He also hoped to make Burbank into a business center for railroads running through his territory. The first post office was established at Burbank on July 1, 1893; however, it opened only six weeks later due to lack of postal service within the new town site itself. In 1907, when Fort Worth became an all-white city limits area with no black residents living within them, Colonel Burnett applied to have his village incorporated as part of that city's boundaries but lost out due to pressure from white officials opposed to any integration of Black residents into white society statewide at that time. African Americans were not allowed to vote or hold public office until after passage of state law legalizing voting rights for citizens regardless race on November 3rd, 1936; however, many farmers continued working their agriculture without benefit from these new regulations until well into the 1940s when they too were finally granted full civil rights by Governor Tom Connally (D). Burkburnett was founded in 1836 by a group of Englishmen who named their settlement after General Houston's old battlefield on the Santa Fe Trail. The town rapidly grew, and in 1840 it became the county seat of Tyler County. In 1847, Burkburnett amalgamated with Nacogdoches County to form an enlarged Tyler County. On July 1, 1850, just one year after its incorporation as a county, Burkburnett also joined the Texas Confederation with other southern counties. By 1860, however, Tyler County had shrunk to its present size due to rapid demographic growth in nearby Dallas and San Antonio.
