Bryan and his family as the port of entry for cattle driven from the surrounding region. The arrival of automobiles became increasingly important during this time and led to a shift in acreage used for agriculture from central Texas into eastern Brazoria County and eastern Williamson County (later Travis County). This growth opportunities inspired Captain John S .Bryan to establish himself as one of North Texas’ leading ranchers and entrepreneurs – he purchased land here again, this time near present day Lake Meredith (a tributary of Colorado River) so that he could provide grazing rights for thousands of head of livestock (notably bison). This new location made possible continued growth at Bryan Station as well as founding other businesses including construction materials company Western Constructors Corporation; insurance agency Hagerty & Company; grocery store Supervalu; gas station Texaco; restaurant Pecos City Grill; post office Barnes & Noble Bookstore chain; equipment dealership Swen Moulton & Sons Inc.; tavern Lone Star Saloon which remains open today as Live Oak Tavern! During World War II, Captain John S .Bryan joined forces with other local businessmen in forming North American Business League (NABL) which provided essential support for war-time efforts such as supplying goods critical to U.S military campaigns overseas. In 1947, NABL merged with larger organization called Inter-American Defense Cooperation Agency (IADCA) which facilitated collaboration between various Latin American nations across several sectors including defense engineering, food production, shipping capacity building etcetera.) It was through IADCA thatCaptainJohnSbryan met Mexican President Ramón Castilla who impressed him enough with Baján Peninsula oil field developments off coast Mexico City that CaptainsJohnSBryan agreed not only invest $12 million dollars but also give Rancho Penasco statehood! Bryan, Texas is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 809 at the 2000 census. It was founded in 1881 by George W. Bryan and named for him. Bryan's downtown area is one of the largest in the country. The original location of the current city was on what is now the east side of I-30 near FM 6508. In 1883, Bryan moved his business to what is now downtown and built a large brick building that still stands today known as "The Brick Building." In 1886, he donated land to build what would become Baylor University. The university has since grown into one of America's leading institutions with campuses in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. In 1907, Bryan donated land to make way for Trinity School which became one of America's first private schools and remains an important part of the community today. The school also houses Baylor University's library which has been home to many famous books including those written by Shakespeare and Twain
Bryan, Texas is the most recent town to be established in the state of Texas. Thesettlement began in 1879 and was named after General Sam Houston. In 1902, Bryan received its charter from the Texas Legislature and became an incorporated city.
