Bryan, Texas is a small town in Midland County, Texas. It has a population of 4,748 according to the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1879 by Andrew Bryan and his family. Bryan is located on the banks of the Brazos River. The first settler in Bryan was Andrew Bryan Jr., who arrived in 1879. In 1902, Andrew's son, Bryan Sr., moved his family from Corsica, New York to Brownsville and started farming there. When he died in 1919, his wife took over the farm and continued to run it until her death in 1944. Their children also lived here for a time before moving away again. In 1957, when Midland County was created, it included part of what is now Bryan and incorporated as a town within that county. In 1961, the then-newMidland County Courthouse was built on State Highway 183 near downtown Bryan (later renamed Main Street). The building still stands today and serves as the primary public square for the townspeople of both towns. Bryan is home to several churches including First Baptist Church which opened its doors in 1907; Stonewall Jackson Presbyterian Church which opened its doors in 1915; Methodist Episcopal Church which became an independent church after merging with another Methodist congregation two years later; Second Baptist Churches which open their doors each springtime since 1903; and Trinity United Methodist Church which opened its doors back when Midland County had just one denomination active among its citizens—Methodism! The only synagogue present in this endeavor is Yeshiva Beth El where services are held every Saturday morning at 10:00am local time starting with Torah reading followed by prayer/lecture from rabbis leading up to services usually concluding around noon on Shabbat! Bryan, Texas is a town located in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,823 at the 2010 census. It has been reported that Bryan was named for General James Wilkinson who fought in the Mexican–American War before moving to Texas and becoming governor of what is now Hidalgo County in 1827. In 1873, the townsite of Bryan and its adjacent ranches were patented to John Wesley Powell by commissioners from Dallas. With the help of railroad developers, Bryan grew rapidly as a railroad town until it lost its status as a center after the completion of the rail line from Dallas to Houston in 1870. However, some people continue to call it "the breadbasket of TX". The city hall was completed in 1907 and served as headquarters until 1928 when it moved to downtown Dallas. According to legend, Wilson Center (now George Bush Presidential Library) was built on the site where he once stood while giving a speech during World War I.

Logan, Jr., who had played an important role in helping bring about Ulysses S. Grant's presidency.
