In the early 1900s, Bryan, Texas was a small town of about 10,000 people. The air force was first established in the area in 1941 and it quickly became one of the busiest military units in Texas. The air force has deployed to many different places throughout its history and it has always been an important part of thetexas defense system. In recent years, they have also become well known for their gifts to local communities. One of the most famous deployments by the air force was Operation Neptune’s Spear in 2003. This was when they sent fighter jets into Iraq to support the American forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2013, they donated components for a new helicopter that had just been delivered to Texas Air National Guard Base Beaumont. This was another highly publicized gift from the air force and it brought much attention to Bryan-Travis County Airport.

Bryan, Texas is a small town in Lampasas County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Bryan is the county seat of Lampasas County. The first mention of Bryan comes from Francisco Ximenez de la Hoz in his book "A History of Texas" in 1836 when he called it "Xibalba." In 1881, J.D. Power and Co., an American electrical company based in Austin, named the city after their founder, James Dillingham Powers. In 1914 the name was changed to Bryan after General George T. Bryan who served as governor of Texas from 1907-1909 and 1913-15 and as commander of First Army during World War I before dying in action on October 12th 1915 at age 85 years old. The original downtown business district that surrounded Powers Library and State Capitol still exists today with several large banks and restaurants located within easy walking or biking distance of each other making it one of the most vibrant cities within Travis County limits. Bryan has experienced many types of growth over its history including: agriculture (the early days were mostly ranching), oil production (the heyday being during World War II), professional sports teams (the Dallas Cowboys played their first game here on November 6th 1923), retail (the city went through a dramatic transformation beginning with Wal-Mart coming to town in 1974 which helped spur development) and then again starting to experience gentrification beginning around 2000 which has resulted in increased joblessness rates among young people leaving the area for more affordable places such as San Antonio or Houston
Air Force deployed gift history begins in the early 1960s with the deployment of the A-12 Avenger II. This strategic bomber was designed to fly high and support anti-aircraft activities. The A-12 was a unique aircraft that required significant maintenance and was not always available for use. In 1969, the USAF commissioned the design of the F-15 Eagle which replaced the A-12 as America’s primary air superiority strategy. This new fighter had advanced technology including digital cockpits, terrain following ability, and forward assist capabilities. By 1990, all American fighters were equipped with digital cockpits and many had also been redesignated as “Eagles” (F-15A/B/C/D). The first successful deployments of Eagles occurred during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 when over 150 Eagles were used to support ground forces in Saudi Arabia. Bryan, Texas is a small town located in the Panhandle of Texas. It is known for its cattle and agriculture industries. The town was founded in 1881 by John W. Bryan, who also operated a cotton gin and livery stable there. The name Bryan comes from Spanish bayonetta meaning "brook." In 1886, the first post office was established in Bryan and the population grew to 820 people. By 1910, Bryan had become an important transportation center with two routes connecting it to Dallas and Joplin. The cotton industry declined during the 1920s and 1930s, but has since resurgence as a manufacturing town with many small businesses. In 1951, Bryan became the capital of Texas after becoming statehood's 26th county seat. Today, it remains one of the most populous towns in Texas with over 10,000 residents.
