In the early 1970s, local businessmen Dan and Kathy Getz founded the Getz Coffee Shop in what is now the popular CVS Pharmacy location. The store was open for about 10 years before being sold to entrepreneur John Pritchett in 1978. Pritchett renamed the business The Daily Grind, and it continued to sell coffee until 1990 when it merged with another small grocery store, Sam's Club. That same year, Tom Patterson bought out Pritchett's share of The Daily Grind and became its new owner. In 1993, Patterson opened the first Starbucks inside of Sam's Club - this would later become one of the largest Starbucks stores worldwide.

Brownwood is located on the banks of the Brazos River and it has a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot, wet summers. The elevation ranges from sea level to 4,500 feet (1,500 meters). The town was founded in 1872 by Mormons who came from Salt Lake City. Brownwood is one of four towns in Texas that are still governed by Mormon leaders. Brownsville, Texas is the largest city in Texas and it was founded by Texans who were also Latter-day Saints. The history of Brownwood began with settlers who arrived from Utah in 1872. They built log homes near what would later be called Main Street. A post office was established in 1874 and soon there were several businesses in operation including a saddlery store, hotel, bakery and sawmill. One of the first churches built in Brownwood was called First Baptist Church which served as both a church and community center until it burned down around 1900. In 1886–87 a school building was erected on land donated by Mrs.(later Mrs.) Wistar Fenton (1837-1920). It became known as Mrs.'s School until 1943 when it became known as Brownwood High School under the guidance of Mrs., Lillie Haggard (1885-1971),Mrs., Nellie Auerbach(1910-1992)and Rev.(Dr.) Harry Mosely(1913-1994). By 1910 there were twenty residents living within two blocks of Main Street while more than fifty people lived scattered throughout rural Kerr County outside of town limits at this time In 1912 an individual named John Dickson purchased 8 acres (3 hectares) west of Main Street for $5 per acre ($100 today). This property would eventually become known as Dickson Park after him Dickson Park contains baseball diamonds, tennis courts and football fields as well as picnic areas forouth children grades K through 12 years old Dickson's farm also produced hay, oats and other feed crops which he sold to farmers within town limits . He also raised cattle , hogs and bees . Between 1916 – 1917 about 100 head of cows were milked daily from his property During World War I Brownwood played host to Camp Beale which training camp used during WWI A new high school opened its doors on August 30th 1965 named Sherman Middle School after local businessman/politician Sherman Mclntyre Jr.. Former Governor Rick Perry attended opening ceremonies along with then Mayor Art Acevedo That same year Moody’s Investors Service gave Brown Wood Municipal Stock Rating AA++ rating giving it green light for economic development

Brownwood is a small town in Texas that was founded in 1839. The town is located about 25 miles west of Austin and has a population of about 4,000 people. Brownwood was originally established as a cotton plantation and later became a cattle ranch. The town was named for John Brown, an American Revolutionary War soldier and the first governor of Texas. Brownwood is also home to the University of Texas at Austin, one of the largest universities in the United States. Brownwood has experienced many changes over its history. Its original cotton plantation was abandoned in 1845, after which it transitioned into a cattle ranch. In 1936, Brownwood became part of the new state of Texas and changed its name to Brownsville. During World War II, Brownwood served as the site for the largest U.S military base in TX when it housed more than 12,000 soldiers and their families.
