Brenham is a town in Lubbock County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. Brenham was founded by John A. Brenham in 1876. It became an incorporated municipality in 1907 and was named after John A. Brenham's wife, Laura Bigham-Brenham. The first post office in Brenham was established on December 12, 1876, and served until it closed on July 10 of that year. On October 15, 1907, the town became an incorporated municipality with a population of 2,519 residents. The name of the first mayor of BrenHAM was Hilda Clementson and she held office from January 1, 1908 to May 6th 1909 before becoming Mayor again on November 3rd 1911. The city annexed part of Killeen on April 11th 1913 and had a population of 992 residents as well as annexed another part of Schoolcraft on October 26th 1915 which had a population of 526 residents prior to that annexation In 1916 when Baylor University moved into its new location across the state line from Dallas near Fort Worth they decided not to move all their administrative offices out to downtown Lubbock but instead put them into two buildings next door to each other which became known as "Baylor Hall" and "Texas Hall". This decision led to some tension between Baylor and Lubbock over who should get what shares in what building(s). In 1926 when Baylor vacated their second building (now commonly referred to as "Hilton Ballroom") for use as their main gymnasium the City Council voted 4-1 to purchase it from Baylor for $2 per square foot plus interest On January 22nd 1928 finally everything settled down when Baylor relocATED their main campus east of I-10 (now Brazos Hills) within walking distance of both Lubbock Municipal Airport & DowntownLubbocks Business District so they could continue using "Hilton Ballroom" for concerts/festivals etc.. From then until present day there have been many large events taking place at either "Hilton Ballroom" or Brazos Hills including Interstates 35 & 620
