The Brenham Army Ammunition Plant was a major ammunition depot located in Brenham, Texas. The plant operated from 1903 until it closed in 1998. It was the largest of its kind in the United States and was responsible for supplying artillery batteries all over the world with ammunition. The plant's history began with the construction of the original munitions depot on November 1, 1903 by United Defense Company. The Depot served as an important part of the army's military supply system and is credited with helping to make World War I possible. The Depot also played a significant role during World War II and was one of the most important military facilities in Texas. In 1998, when the plant closed, it had served its purpose as an important part of Texan society for over 100 years. However, due to its importance within our state's history and economy, it has been preserved and currently serves as a museum Open to All visitors every day from 9am-5pm starting March 16th through October 15th

Brenham is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,966 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Johnson County. The name Brenham comes from "breh" meaning "a piece of wood." Brenham was founded by General James Fagan in 1847 as a ranch and cattle station on the Brazos River. In 1851, Fagan built a sawmill and store near what is now downtown Brenham. In 1863, John Marshall founded Marshall's Lumber Company in Brenham to supply lumber to the Confederate army during the American Civil War. After the war ended, Marshal continued producing lumber until his death in 1919. In 1923, Texaco bought Marshall's company and renamed it Texaco-Marshall Corporation. The corporation manufactured gasoline and oil products until its merger with ConocoPhillips in 2006. Brenham has two Schools: Central High School which serves students from grades 9-12 and Eastside Middle School which serves students from grades 7-8 The town of Brenham was founded by General James Fagan on January 15th 1847 as part of an effort to improve access to land for settlers around present day Johnson County TX On July 1st 1865 when Confederate General Andrew Johnson met with Union Generals Hernando de Soto and Antonio Lopez at Rancho Pecos near modern day Houston TX they discussed forming a Union army to fight against Johnston’s Confederacy A group of men including Fagan volunteered their services so they could purchase land where US Highway 6 now exits off FM 575 east of Brenham They named their new settlement after General James Fenian’s Raid into Mexico City on February 14th1846 called “theraid into Mexico City” this event spawned many local businesses such as Richards Bros Hardware Store that still stands today
