Borger, Texas is a small, Unincorporated community located in Pecos County, Texas. It is the only incorporated town in Pecos County and its population was 1,849 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community had a total population of 2,048 as of the 2010 census. The Borger post office was established on December 12, 1907. The first postmaster was Mrs. Fannie Bentsen. According to the United States Census Bureau, Borger has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,849 people residing in the town. Of this number 802 (48%) were male and 712 (52%) were female. This makes Borger a very gender-balanced town with over 60% of its inhabitants being women. There are no public schools within Borger; citizens must educate their children themselves or send them to school in nearby villages or towns which offer educational opportunities for pre-kindergarten through high school students. As a result, most residents rely heavily on their own families for education and early childhood development includingportation and cultural activities to keep them engaged in local life outside of school hours

Borger, Texas is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 567 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Borger area was settled by violence settlers from New Mexico in 1851. In 1875, John Schiele founded Borger High School and post office. In 1886 the first telephone line reached Borger and it became an important center for communication in the community. In 1916, J.C. Swartz sold land to build what would become the Borger Municipal Airport (later renamed Denton Municipal Airport). The airport served as a stop on the Dallas-Fort Worth Railway until it closed in 1971; however, portions of the runway remain extant as a public rights-of-way today for aerial golf courses and other activities. In 1984, with passage of law No 7146,"The Townsite Act", Borger received municipal services under its own government which continues to this day including police department and fire brigade operations that are funded by property taxes levied on residents within city limits." In 1987, when racially segregated housing ordinances were repealed in Tarrant County along with many other municipalities across Texas due to court rulings outlawing such discrimination, Mayor Tom Kuehn declared "Borger's War" against white flight into black neighborhoods throughout Tarrant County - specifically targeting areas around Garland and Plano - resulting in increased policing activity throughout the downtown core of town while also increasing funding for city services such as police protection detail and streetlights
The Borger-Lackland House is a historic home located at Borger, Texas. It was built in 1892, and is a two-story, red brick Victorian style house with a hipped roof. It has a front porch that features Tuscan columns and an entablature of segmented arches. The Lackland House was built in 1907 by John A. Lackland Sr. The house was purchased by his son John A. Lackland Jr. in 1957 and subsequently passed down through the family until it was sold to the current owner in 2012.
