From its inception through the Vietnam War, Borger AFB played a major role in America's involvement in that conflict. In 1969, NATO dissolved and the USAF element at Borger AFB transitioned to Tactical Air Command (TAC) under control of Continental US Army command. During this time period, while active duty USAF personnel also operated at Tan Son Nhut AB as part of their civilian support functions, there were no combat aircraft stationed at or used by the 5 BW on Earth! In 1972-1975 TACactivated 3 E-2 Hawkeye trainers here at BAGF for use by Thai military forces engaged with Laotian separatists on a regular basis.(See attached photo) After 1975 the E-2s were converted into EB-3D Skymasters and remained Operational until they were retired from service in 1992 with over 480 years flying experience! After centuries of providing deterrence against aggression from abroad and supporting operations ashore throughout North America continentally & globally;the last operational Boeing 707 departed our Australian Regional Airport December 16th 2006 en route to Spokane Washington USA where she will be preserved for future generations!"

Borger, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas, located in the eastern part of the state on the Brazos River. The population was 947 at the 2010 census. It is a rural community and much of its land is still covered with oak and hickory trees from when it was settled by German settlers in 1849-50. He writes that there were two stores in BGER at that time - one operated by Johann Gottlieb Mergenthaler and the other by John Hogg Sr.. There also seems to be no record of any post office being established within the boundaries of what is now BorGER until about 1907 when Wm Ladd opened one for mail service between nearby Georgetown and BERG along US Hwy 121. When World War II began in 1939, many Germans living inside US borders fled into Canada to avoid capture or deportation back to Germany during World War II. Some decided to stay behind after their papers were processed and received; these so-called “ghosts” gradually disappeared over time until only a few remain today – those living primarily outside Texas but having some connection with either hometown or wartime memories are sometimes referred to as "Borgers".
