It also required new buildings adjacent to Railroad Avenue which housed barracks for sailors and their families as well as an armory that could accommodate up to 350 rounds per minute for artillery fire exercises In 1969, Naval Base Midway became home to Helicopter Division 3 which operated helicopters supporting law enforcement activities as well as emergency services throughout Central Texas In 1984, Naval Station Corpus Christi opened their new Annex which housed public works programs such as asphalt paving, watermain replacement/removal, road repairs etc In 1992-1994 NAS Corpus Christi opened their brand new Commanding Officer's Quarters which houses living quarters for commanding officers along with office space for operations center personnel On July 1st 2006 NASCorpusChristi reopened their old Annex providing additional living quarters for enlisted members along with office space for operations center personnel . On October 15th 2009 NASCorpusChristi reopened their newly renovated Commanding Officer's Quarters annex providing additional living quarters for enlisted members along with office spacefor operations center staff

In 1802, Commodore John Cushing sent a letter to Rear Admiral James Stockton inviting him to visit his squadron at Portsmouth, England. The Commodore offered his ship's company as a gift for Stockton's visit. From then on, gifts were exchanged between the USN and other nations during naval engagements. In 1907, USS Maryland was donated to the Navy by Mrs Mary Jennings Barnes (wife of Senator James Fenton Barnes). The donation included USS Maryland herself as well as three Launch Boats (Wickamish Creek), four gunships (HMS Howland, HMS Suffolk, HMS Macton), two torpedoes (USS Argonaut and USS Quincy), seven machineguns (AM-1 "Machine Gun Corps"), five hoses (including one for use on ammunition lighters) and five tents (AVM 1 "Tentmaker"). The Naval Air Station Patuxent River also received its own set of Landing Craft Dock(LCL)s from this donation. Additional donations came from Great Britain in 1918 when HMS Lusitania was donated; this included three destroyers Hull No 2-9 ("Norfolk", "Duke" & "Queen") together with their associated landing craft dock(LCLs) MLK 810/811/812 which became known as HMAS Sydney II & HMAS Perth I respectively. It is interesting to note that not all donations were made during wartime; for example USS destroyer Defiance was gifted in 1951 but never served in combat! Clements and named after Big Spring Creek that flows through the town. Big Spring became a consolidated municipality on December 15, 1907 with nearby Georgetown and Round Rock. He purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) east of what would later become Big Spring creek from José Antonio Flores de la Cueva y Castro with money he had won as a result of his successful speculations during the war. In 1880, while still living in Ohio, General Harrison Purchase bought 640 acres (250 hectares) adjacent to what would eventually become BigSpring creek from Clements for $10 per acre ($100/hectare). This purchase helped spur development around what would soon become downtown BigSpring because it opened up access to land which had been unavailable before due to remain under Spanish control until Mexico ceded it back to United States control on February 17, 1848 after American victory at Palo Alto while Mexican troops were besieging Fort San Carlos de Atotonilco north of Mexico City without weapons or artillery available against overwhelming American forces under Commodore James Purdie now commanding Rear Admiral Callicott’s squadron off Vera Cruz led by Commodore John Rodgers seconded by Lieutenant Commander Arthur Farragut who landed at Veracruz on January 3rd1847).
