The United States Air Force has been involved in the Gift History of Big Spring, Texas for many years. The AFB's history goes back to World War II when it was activated as a bombing and reconnaissance squadron. From then until the present, the USAF has played an important role in Big Spring's community by providing service and support to local agencies. In 1953, Big Spring was chosen as the location forthe first USAF airfield wing-the 1st Aerospace Division (1 AD). At that time, the wing consisted of only two squadrons: The 125th Bomb Wing and the 263d Fighter Wing. As aircraft capabilities evolved, so too did Big Spring's airport and its role within USAF operations. In 1960, Big Spring became one of three Air Forces bases located in Texas along with Fort Worth and San Antonio; this addition helped make Texans more integrated into American society. As missions changed and new technologies emerged, the USAAF continued to provide essential air support for our nation through its units at both installations worldwide. Withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2011 left Bomber Command drastically reduced in size; however, not all resources were lost - alumni from bomber schools across America continue to contribute their skills to current operational squadrons around the globe! Withdrawn from active duty service on July 1st 2012 came memories of hard fought wars fought behind enemy lines-Air Force unit members had spent years training cadets who would soon be fighting on foreign soil again! On August 25th 2013 during National Air Traffic Safety Day ceremonies at Ellington Field Airport all Airmen representing bomber wings stationed overseas attended presentations on various aspects related to air traffic control systems...and how they've been used lately aboard military aircraft! Both Bomber Commands have since returned "to life"albeit with diminished numbers but an impressive amount of shared tradition & memory between these two great branches of service!

Big Spring, Texas is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,532 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio–Houston Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1879 by Quakers who had moved from Manchester, England and established a settlement on the banks of the Rio Grande River. The community grew rapidly due to its location and natural resources; oil and gas were discovered there in 1901 and 1907, respectively. In 1924 Big Spring became an independent municipality. Today Big Spring is a shopping destination for residents of surrounding counties as well as visitors to San Antonio and Houston. Its downtown contains several prominent retailers including JCPenney, Sears, Macy's, and Dillards among others. The community also has two professional sports teams: the Astros (a Major League Baseball team) and the Patriots (an American football team).

The deployment represented a new era for American airpower and signaled the end of World War II. The first air DEFENSE Missiles were delivered on October 25, 1947 in a ceremony at Andersen AFB near Guam. The missiles were part of Project Arrow, which was designed to provide long-range protection against incoming ballistic missiles. In 1949, Project Grendel was initiated to deploy more advancedCONIStellars into Southeast Asia in order to replace short-range Lockheed P-38s used there at that time. These deployments marked a turning point in American aviation and helped make America one of the leading militaries on Earth by the early 21st century.

Big Spring, Texas is a town located in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,362 at the 2010 census. Big Spring is the county seat of Hidalgo County. The first European to visit what is now Big Spring was José de Oñate in 1701. In 1836, the Republic of Texas claimed this area from Mexico and built its capital in Big Spring. Mexican squatters had settled here since the end of the 1800s and most of their descendants still live in or near Big Spring. When Texans gained independence from Mexico in 1845 they decided to name their new state after one of their heroes- General Antonio López de Santa Anna. When Santa Anna died in1846 his Vice President Joaquín Báez took control of Mexico and changed the name to Texas on November 2, 1848 (although some sources say it was December 12th). Santa Anna’s Tomb still stands outside of town on Main Street north of Interstate 10. In 1861, when Confederate forces invaded America during the American Civil War, Major General James Fenton ordered his men to burn all Spanish property east of San Antonio while he moved westward towards El Paso with orders to cross into New Mexico Territory under US Army protection should hostilities continue there even though that territory had already been won by Lincoln’s troops weeks earlier at Battles Of Peña Blanca and Churubusco Creek (March 14-16). One hundred miles south east of El Paso Fenton reached Big Spring on April 6 where he found water welled up around a small creek which locals called “the Arkansas” because so many people crossed overland from Arkansas each year for winter stock drives going downriver into New Mexico Territory – an event known today as “The Water Cession” or “ThebigSpringWaterCession". Withdrawing his forces back upstream before reaching El Paso again two days later Fenton established Fort Bliss east side current day San Antonio along Buffalo Bayou opposite Ulysses S Grant Boulevard just southwest boundary then continued moving westward across open plains through what is now Medina County until reaching Eagle Pass about 150 miles due west on October 16th when infantry units turned back enroute following an Apache attack that killed twelve soldiers including four officers; this episode became known as "The Great Phoenix Robbery" both because military activity within Mexican territory ceased immediately and also because partakes significantly in local folklore as one account has it that five horses were taken including a valuable war saddle which remain missing today although tracks have been found near Alpine National Park close by; later accounts claim only three horses were seized but several items such as saddles and bridles may have been lost with no evidence being uncovered to support either theory Brigadier General Edwin Miers arrived at Fort Bliss January 9th 1865 with orders topreform Major General James Fenton's activities within Mexican territory; instead they soon proved fruitless another month went by with no change until February 3rd when two Bowie Scouts reported seeing Indians lurking around some nearby hills watching them prepare artillery pieces for an upcoming engagement against Pecos River insurgents led by artist/ musician Comanche Chief Manuel García who included performances inside his village usingIndian music instruments among other activities On February 11th 5 artillery pieces belonging to BrigadierGeneral Miers were captured early morning hours while deployed southeast cornerof present day downtown Little Rock off I-10 next door(now Jasper) after skirmishing near Adobe Walls northeast cornerof present day Mount Pleasant courthouse plaza.; accompanying column consisting mostly cavalry advanced northwest via White Sands Road past Elephant Hill Cemetery southwest cornerof present day Philbrook Plaza past Slaughterhouse Gulch Presidio Barracks finally arriving tomorrow night overlooking downtown Little Rock about 1/4 mile SWiles Cornerpost [sic] currently vacant housing developments are located just NW & WSW corners [name unknown]; situated approximately midway between old Anadarko & Wichita townshipsalong Buffalo Bayou
