The United States Army has been deployed in many different places throughout its history. In Benbrook, Texas, the army has stationed artillery and troops at various locations for years. Benbrook is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Benbrook was founded in 1879 by James A. Benbrook and his family from Illinois. The community sprang up around a sawmill on the banks of the Colorado River and soon became a vibrant agricultural center with wheat, corn, cotton, and beef cattle farming operations. In 1927, James A.Benbrook donated land to build the first Baptist church in Austin – now Christmastown Baptist Church – and it has been serving as this community’s main religious institution ever since. The Benbrook School District serves grades Pre-K through 12th grade located in the town center and adjacent rural neighborhoods throughout central Williamson County..

Benbrook is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,817 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to live in what is now Benbrook were pioneers who came from nearby Williamson County in 1876 and 1877. They founded the small community on a piece of land they acquired east of present-day Benbrook Lake. On July 9, 1880, Benjamin Fenton Blount married Sarah Alderrigg there. The Blounts remained residents for many years before moving to Amarillo in 1907. The town began as a stop on the Santa Fe Railroad and soon became an important center for cotton production and trade. After World War II, Benbrook experienced rapid growth due to its proximity to various oil refineries and other manufacturing facilities including Dean Foods Inc., Abbott Laboratories, Dow Chemical Company, Sharp Electronics Corporation and Monsanto Co.. During the late 1990s through early 2000s economic recession led to significant decreases in job opportunities and population size; however, this has begun to reverse with recent growth in retail sales jobs withinOffice Depot Inc.. In recent years Benbrook has been home to several festivals such as the Fourth Annual Cowboy Festival (September 11), Bluegrass Gospel Convention (May 14-16), their own annual Pumpkinfest (October 8) and DogFest (November 12).
