Belton is a small town in Williamson County, Texas. It was founded in 1851 by settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee. The first store in Belton was built on the courthouse square, and the first post office was established in 1852. The town name came from a military skirmish that took place there in 1859. The town's involvement in the American Civil War began when it sent soldiers to help garrison Fort Worth during the war. In 1865, Belton became known as the "battle ground of Texas" because of its role in the Battle of San Jacinto. In 1902, Belton celebrated its centennial with an event called "A Hundred Years of Progress." Today, Belton is home to a number of businesses, including a bank and several restaurants. The town also has a number of historical museums, including the Military Museum and History Center which preserves artifacts from both World Wars I and II.

There has been a military presence in Belton, Texas for over 100 years. The town was founded by General Sam Houston and his forces in 1836 as the site of an outpost on the banks of the Brazos River. The first organized military unit to be stationed in Belton was the 1st Battalion, Texas Rangers, which was activated on November 8, 1836. The battalion served at various posts along the river until it joined General Houston's army at Monterrey in February 1840. The town continued to grow throughout the 19th century and by 1886 it had a population of 10,000 people. In 1898, during World War I, Belton became a strategic point due to its location on both sides of the Rio Grande River between Mexico and Texas. As part of Operation Homicide—the Mexican invasion of Texan soil—Belton residents assisted in repelling Mexican forces from their positions around Doña Ana Pass. In 1924, after almost fifty years of service to Texan society and culture, the Texas Rangers were decommissioned and replaced by the National Guardsmen within two years. On July 1, 1949 however – just four months after statehood – Belton again saw its first active military deployment when members of the 123rd Infantry Regiment (Airland) arrived to supportOperation Neptune's Spear–the amphibious assault against North Korea that ended with an armistice agreement reached between North Korea and South Korea on September 15 that year. Since then there have been periodic deployments throughout various conflicts including Operation Enduring Freedom (2011-2012), which involved member units from neighboring countries; Operation Unified Protector III (2013-2015), which focused on counterterrorism operations against criminal cartels in Central America; Protective Expeditionary Force 2018 (2018-present), which is responsible for guarding US embassies during diplomatic trips abroad; and most recently OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD—a mission launched last month intended to test theatre-wide capabilities for United States Cyber Command’s Joint Force Battle Space Operations Center(JFBCOSC).
Belton, Texas is a small town located in Medina County, Texas. The population was 2,838 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Belton is named after General John Belton and his family who settled there in 1872. Belton began as a small farming community with around 100 residents in the early 1920s. By the late 1940s, it had grown to over 3,000 people and became an important center for military service and defense during World War II. After the war ended, Belton experienced rapid growth as a manufacturing and ranching center. In recent years, however, Belton has been declining due to economic decline and high crime rates. The town was incorporated on March 1st of 1907 by JAMES A HUGHES from FOSTER County IN TEXAS under Section 8 of Township 5 North (now Medina County). The first post office here opened on October 15th of that year with WALTER S KELLY as mail carrier. With only two residents at that time, Generals John Belton and George Custer were among those who contributed money for building the first school which still stands today - Mrs Jeanette Dillard donated land for it in 1925! The original courthouse was built in 1908 by contractor WILLIAM PEARSON & CO.. This structure served until 1924 when construction began on what would become THE BELTON CHURCH which included a gymnasium/theater/hall etc., becoming operational on September 25th of that year! The economy changed dramatically following World War II with production moving from agriculture to industry; however, this period also saw crime increase markedly which caused many businesses to close their doors or move out of town altogether including truck stop restaurant "Pegasus" whose neon sign can be seen all across town today! The first time someone gave a gift to the military was during World War I. The United States had entered the war in 1917 and soon began production of munitions. On November 11, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson issued the American Declaration of War Against Germany. On December 6th, 1917, Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act which provided for military spending for 1918. This act also authorized the president to make payments to patriotic organizations such as Veterans' Home Administration and National Military Park. For Christmas that year, General John J. Pershing sent gifts to both infantry and cavalry units stationed in Europe.
Belton, Texas was founded in 1836 by the brothers John and James Belton. The town was originally called "New Madrid" after the river New Madrid which flows through central Missouri. In 1847, the town renamed itself to Belton after General David Belton, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The community began to grow rapidly in the 1840s as cotton plantations were developed along the Arkansas River. By 1860, Belton had a population of 805 people and it became an important stop on stagecoaches going between Houston and Chicago. However, during the American Civil War, many residents chose to stay in their homes and businesses instead of joining forces with either side. The town was destroyed by Confederate forces during the Battle of Houston on December 6th, 1862. After the war, most of Belton's citizens moved away or were deported when Mexico decided not to renew its treaty with America due to their support for President Abraham Lincoln. Today, only a few remaining buildings from back when Belton was a bustling metropolis remain standing within its boundaries.
