The Bellaire Brigade of the Texas Army National Guard was founded on July 1, 1916. The brigade grew out of a response to World War I when the state of Texas activated its National Guard units. Over time, the brigade has grown to include over 12,000 members.

Bellaire is a city in Collin County, Texas, United States. The population was 12,033 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Bellaire-Marshalltown Railway was founded in 1881 by two brothers, Hiram and George Marshall. In 1907, the railroad merged with the Central Texas Railroad to form the Texas Central Railroad. The original tracks ran from Buffalo Gap to Marshalltown and then continued northeast to Bellaire. The bell tower at Marshtown Elementary School still stands as a reminder of that early history. In 1915, Bellaire became a municipality when it incorporated as a town under the name of "Belair." In 1924, Belair annexed parts ofMarshallstown and Hollis townships which made up Collin County. That same year also saw the opening of what would become one of America's most famous high schools - Baylor University's Marshalltown campus opened its doors to students in what would be known as "the Mills". In 1954, after more than 50 years of growth for both cities - including annexation of neighboring communities - Belair annexing McKinney created what is now Collin County's second largest city block by total area (after Irvington). Asbelli’s Mills closed its doors on October 1st 1958 but reopened 5 months later as Baylor University’s McLennan Campus with an enrollment totaling 10,000 students enrolled in grades 9-12! This continued growth led to another annexation in 1970 when Hillcrest Village was annexed into Belaille making it home to 14K people! Today there are over 100 businesses located within walking distance or less of each other making downtown Belaire yet again one vibrant community full of energy and life – just like when it first started!"
