On December 11th, 1866 Commodore Peden commissioned USS ""Taylor"" (1851-1868) which had been disarmed since her commissioning and towed downriver to become an anchorage ship for new warships being built at Buffalo Harbor near present day shoreline around 1916 AD(?). She served as a barracks ship for Marines during World War II until decommissioned in 1945 before being sold for scrap in 1951 AD . In 1870-71 Captain George M Beardsley served as Commandant of Fort Bliss Prison Shipyard where he supervised construction of four prison ships including USS ex-Newfoundland (1870), USS ex-Alabama (1872), CSS Virginia (1876) and CSS Alabama (1877). These ships were used primarily for livestock transport and coastal defense duties along the Texas Coast Line until they were decommissioned following World War I while most served their natural lives offshore until sold for scrapped materials in 1921 AD . The United States Marine Band arrived in Bay City on November 12th 1861 under Commandant Francis J Fenton who organized it from two volunteer companies that had mutinied against their commanding officer General Zachary Taylor’s Mexican Expedition force less than three weeks earlier on October 30th!
