The Azle Army Community Foundation (AACF) was founded in 1974 by the late Lt. Col. Donny Seibert as a way to support and promote military readiness in the community. The AACF is one of several foundation organizations that provide support to military families in Azle and throughout Texas. The AACF is a 501(c)(3) charity, which means it does not receive government funding. It relies on donations from individuals, businesses, foundations, and other organizations to operate. The AACF supports the following programs: 1) Military Family Day - A day where members of the community can come together to celebrate military family members in attendance at local schools or service academies 2) Pre-K Through 12th Grade - This program provides resources for children who are struggling with school or growing up underprivileged 3) Junior Officer Development Academy - A four-week program that provides opportunities for young officers from high school through college levels

The Azle Army Air Field was a World War II airfield in Azle, Texas. It served as an auxiliary airfield for the United States Army during the Second World War. The airfield was used by both the Flying Fortress and Hurricane aircraft of the Eighth Air Force. The airfield was dedicated on 8 December 1942 and opened to military use on 5 March 1943. The first tenant squadron at AZLE were the 436th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy). These medium bombers attacked strategic targets in Germany while also providing bomber cover for Operation Torch, the Allied landings in North Africa. In 1945, AZLE became part of RAF Station RAF Mildenhall which housed No. 303 Service Group RAF Bomber Command's last operational squadrons of Consolidated B-24 Liberators and Boeing P-38 Lightning fighter planes. During 1946–1948 it served again as an auxiliary field when USAF Tactical Air Command activated its wings at Mildenhall and Azle returned to civilian control with Bob Seagrave as its first mayor. In 1949, azle reverted back to military use with No 1 Fighter Wing USAAF equipped with Republic F-84 Thunderjets which provided fighter support for NATO operations in Europe during this time period
Azle, Texas is a small town located in the Midland region of Texas. The population was 4,711 at the 2010 census. Azle is home to the Azle High School and azlelibrary.com. It also has a post office, an edge harbor Marina, a grain elevator, two churches (one Pentecostal and one Methodist), three restaurants (one Chinese and one Tex-Mex), a bank, two grocery stores, two physician practices (one family practice and one generalist), three preschools/ kindergartens, five fire departments (two Volunteer Department #1 and four Rural Fire District #2), five schools (two elementary schools and four middle schools) as well as six businesses including a gas station/convenience store/ convenience store/ auto parts store/, lumberyard/, beauty shop/, tire shop/, agricultural dealership/, mosque/. The community was founded by Scotsmen in 1887 when they moved from Fort Worth to what is now Azle. The first school was built on what is now Main Street in 1892. The first post office opened in 1903. In 1907 the name of the town was changed from Highland to Azle after General George A. Azle who served as Commander of First Brigade of Texas Volunteers during World War I. In 1924 there were only 12 residents inAzle while it had 1 telephone line; however by 1930 there were over 100 residents with over 50 businesses There were more than 350 residents by 2000 but due to population growth alone land prices have increased more than 5 times since then making it difficult for people to stay here permanently In 2000-2002 Azle voters passed an ordinance that made all male students between 6th grade and high school wear pants or skirts outside of their homes for up to 30 minutes before classes began everyday until such time they could be replaced by girls or boys wearing shorts or skirts according to their own choice This ordinance became effective September 8th 2002 This policy has been highly successful because it limits bullying which can occur if teenage boys feel like they cannot wear pants because someone else said so or if girls feel like they are not allowed to wear short skirts because someone told them not to Another issue that faces Azle constantly is water availability; as much as everyone would love fresh water available all year round there are often shortages due either to weather conditions or human error

Azle is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Azle was John Witherspoon who arrived in 1851. He named his place after Major General James A. Azle who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as governor of Texas from 1875 to 1879. In 1863, Union General Sam Houston spent a night at Witherspoon's home while he visitedAzle on his way to meet Confederate General Robert Ewell at Carthage Plantation near Lufkin. On July 12, 1865, General Houston pardoned all Texans for their role in the Civil War and azle became an incorporated town with a population of about 100 people on November 3 of that year under the name "Dallas". In 1896, Azle had its first post office and began receiving mail from Dallas through the Texas Central Mail Service company which ran between Dallas and San Antonio until it merged into US Postal Service on January 1, 1901. However due to fire damage caused by a storm on October 24th 1907 (known as "The Great Famine"), most of downtown Azle were destroyed including Post Office #1 which still stands today adjacent to First Presbyterian Church (now Humble Baptist). The building has been used as both a restaurant and cultural center since then and is now designated as a historic landmark by the city of Austin. In 1951 azle held its first municipal election where incumbent Mayor Tom Flood defeated challenger Harry Sorensen 53% - 47%. Prior to this date mayoral elections were held uniforcally via plurality voting with no candidate gaining an absolute majority necessary for election victory or removal from office. The following year azle elected its first female mayor when Mrs Mary Jane McNamara was appointed to succeed Mayor Tom Flood after he resigned due to health concerns related to leukemia precipitated by chemotherapy treatments he received during his battle with cancer; however she did not serve out full term due to re-election eligibility requirements set forth by state law at that time. On December 5th 1957 Hurricane Allen made landfall just north of town causing significant damage including extensive flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses along with damaging infrastructure such as roads and power lines; however little if any damage was done within azle itself although some residents reported heavy rains falling overnight which may have exacerbated some aspects of the aftermath such as flash flooding inside local homes especially around Railroad Avenue/Lake Olmsted Street SE area which saw upTo 20 inches (50 cm) Of rain throughout several hours! As much as $5 million worth of damages were estimated initially however subsequent reports estimate damages closer to $100K+ without accounting for potential lost business or residential property value also resulting from downed powerlines etc... On October 16th 1959 Azles High School graduated its inaugural class consisting of seniors Gradus Kaye Richardson (1948), Ronnie Whitehurst (1949), Alonzo Goodlett (1950), Leroy Greenleaf(1953)and Donny Weeden(1957). This event markedtxs first graduation ever held outside central TX attendance area & brings community together thru education
Azle was founded as a postoffice in 1851, and grew to become a small town with a population of around 1,500. The town was originally named Red River Settlement and later renamed after General George A. Azle, the first United States military governor of Texas. In 1907, Azle became an incorporated city and has since grown into one of the largest towns in the state.
