In 1915, Austin native Howard Schultz founded Starbucks based out of his old office at 711 Congress Ave., located adjacent to what is now UTSA University campus (now part of Johnson State Community College). At first Starbucks was an online store only; however, due to popular demand they started selling physical products starting July 1st 2009. Schultz led efforts behind Starbucks' move into Austin’s Warehouse District – located near Fourth Street between Lamar Boulevard and Guadalupe Avenue – where they began brewing their Flagship Coffees Bold Roasts using whole bean roasted beans sourced direct from small farmers throughout Latin America & Africa*.
